Jackdaw Wood CIC has access to its own wood based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. The activities continue to concentrate on developing the wood to provide a workable and safe space to run group activities and improve wellbeing. The start-up funding provided by Well Doncaster is still used to improve the facilities and provide individual and group adult mental health improvement sessions and children’s mental health groups. The activities run during the year include (not restricted to) - Daily drop in sessions which are free at point of contact. - Weekly men’s health group at a local foodbank and referrals from local authority, NHS and social prescribers and links to other community groups. - Supporting young people with learning disabilities one morning a week with use of the outdoor space and classrooms. - Children’s groups through the Summer with forest school activities with food. - Drumming, singing and community connection groups. - Baby and adult yoga groups. - Mindful walking and talking groups. - Chronic pain groups. - Baby bereavement group. - Art and community engagement projects. - Community tree planting. - Foraging and walking project. The aim of the group continues to be to provide a community space for all groups to benefit from wellbeing sessions. The group is working to develop activities that will provide a sustainable growth model and benefit the wider community.
The main supporting team from Doncaster Council is the Community Wealthbuilders (Part of Well Doncaster). This team has continued to provide advice and grant funding to enable Jackdaw Wood to build a welcoming and safe space to hold wellbeing sessions and to build a sustainable community interest company.
