Roots of Return has run a weekly Singing, Drumming and Food Sharing Circle, a weekly Women's Circle, weekly Women's Trauma Yoga classes and regular seasonal ceremonies on the beach. - Over 120 people over the course of the year have attended our weekly Singing, Drumming and Food Sharing Circle. This has created sustainable connections, reduced social isolation, increased a sense of wellbeing and belonging and reduced depression, anxiety and stress. - Member of the Circle report that it has given them a sense of social support and that this has helped them to not only feel more connection but to start new businesses and projects in the community. - Over 90 women over the course of the year have attended our weekly Women's Circle. The women report that the Circle has been pivotal for their wellbeing, sense of being supported and knowing they are not alone. - The women have enjoyed creative activities and group sharing which has enhanced their sense of wellbeing. - As with the drumming circle, women in this community have embarked upon their own projects in the community as a result of the weekly support of the circle. - We have used venues run by other CICs thereby supporting them and building connection with them. - We also have run a weekly Women's Trauma Informed Yoga class which has attracted nearly 50 women in the local area. - The women learned research based tools to regulate their nervous system, reduce stress and anxiety and enhance wellbeing. - The women report a greater sense of ease and resilience that has helped them move forward in their lives rather than feeling trapped in trauma. -We have also run regular seasonal ceremonies on the beach in St Leonards such as at the Equinox and Solstice. - These events have been attended by 100 people each time and those attending reported that the ceremonies helped them to connect back with the land, nature and community. - Attendees also report that it has given them a sense of hope for the multiple crises that we face particularly in relation to the environment, that people do care and that together we can find creative solutions.
