it’s activities have benefited the community in the following ways; The local community have been able to purchase good quality clothing at a much-reduced rate The local community have been able to donate their unwanted clothing and goods rather than sending such items to landfill, encouraging recycling. Local counsellors and their local clients have been able to hire the rooms above the shop for private counselling, reducing driving emissions because alternative, suitable venues for such counselling are not available within a 5 mile (Minimum) radius. The shop has employed 2 local residents on a full time or part time basis, and is supporting a further 5 volunteers with practical work skills whilst providing work experience. Any profits made from these activities will be donated to a local charity, The Matthew Hackney Foundation, which supports children and young people with their mental wellbeing, through counselling.
The company’s stakeholders are the local residents and users of the shop, both for making donations (avoiding landfill and encouraging recycling) and for purchasing lower priced good quality used goods. The counsellors and their clients are also our stakeholders, all of whom also live and/or work locally. We have built up a social media following of over 1000 members, all of whom are encouraged to give feedback on our shop, its stock and service. The customers who do peruse our shop are also encouraged in a similar way. We are located in a village of approx. 7500 residents and have approx. 50 ‘regular’ customers and also offer a ‘reservation service’ through our live video blogs and a postal service through our ecommerce platforms. We have also consulted with 15 local counsellors who have helped shape our consulting rooms. Feedback from both them and their clients is always welcomed and listened to. We encourage those who are working and volunteering within the shop to pick up ideas on how better to serve our service users and have an open communication line for all of them to feed back any improvements they may have.
