Kingsmead Community Shop: RISE 365 have been running the 'Kingsmead Community Shop', a general store with a particular emphasis on providing to those within the local vicinity in Hackney. Opened in 2020, the store started as an emergency food-response program as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic but has now become a vital ongoing program due to the cost-of-living crisis within the UK, the activities of the shop have benefited the community in the following ways: 1) It’s granted affordable access to nutritious food and reduced financial stress for marginalised families all whilst fostering stronger community relationships, creating a sense of belonging and mutual support. 2) Over 95 families are served per week with 4940 families being fed through 35,000 bags of shopping. 3) Young people have developed various transferable skills such as budgeting, time management, and teamwork all cultivated through volunteering and managing the shop. It also served as a chance for volunteers to gain real-world experience in customer service and communication, making them more prepared for the job market. The Kingsmead Community Food Shop serves not just to address food insecurity as an aftermath of the cost-of-living crisis but has become a central hub for learning, development and building connections. It has become an integral service we provide, as it’s proved to be a vital resource for both young people and the wider community at large. Mens/Women’s Circle: A programme focusing on the importance of having a dedicated space where young people can connect through conversational discussions around matters that affect them in their day-to-day lives. It’s a safe environment for young people to be embraced and feel at ease despite their current challenges. In 2024, we introduced the Young Women’s Circle alongside the Young Men’s Circle as we ascertain that the circles provide a space for open dialogue, emotional expression and peer support all whilst addressing critical issues such as mental health, identity and societal challenges - each group (2) consists of 6 - 8 members aged 15–18 who meet monthly within the local community. Key Outcomes: - Young people are given the opportunity to develop coping mechanisms and build resilience to navigate adversity through having an improved self-awareness and confidence. All discussions that were facilitated enabled the young people to share their own personal stories, receive validation from their peers and have in-depth conversations about career aspirations, cultural identity and for them to think critically about their futures. Long-Term Benefits: A report of 96% of young people surveyed agreed that they experienced reduced feelings of isolation and an increased sense of community due to the proactive measures we took to address issues like low self-esteem and disengagement. Mentoring Programme: All mentoring took place over a 14-16 week period with young people being matched with a mentor who provided tailored guidance and consistent support with the fund enabling us to extend the mentorship offered beyond academics and career, allowing an acute focus on emotional well-being, social skills, and problem-solving. Impact on Participants: Young people saw their goals come to fruition as goal-setting became more actionable and achievable through structured mentorship, whilst also gaining clarity on career paths and educational opportunities. As all mentors are thoroughly vetted and screened, they proved to be strong role models and inspired a shift in mindset, encouraging participants to make positive choices. Youth Advisory Board: A group of young people who are passionate about ensuring that their voices are heard and want to be part of wider decision making at RISE 365. Its formed of 10 incredible young people across various age groups that have been demanding positive change for the past 8 months, helping design and shape the future of RISE 365’s youth provision services. 1:1 Tutoring Programme: It has enriched the lived experiences of our young people, giving them the chance to increase their confidence towards their educational pursuit. All the young people who’ve partaken in the programme have seen their educational attainment improve drastically and has minimised school expulsions. Gucci Changemakers London: In 2024, RISE 365 continued to benefit enormously from the support of the Gucci Changemakers London Programme. It’s enabled us a grassroots organisation to strengthen our services, expand our reach all whilst empowering young people and communities facing systemic challenges. Gucci's involvement has extended beyond financial assistance, as they also provided invaluable workshops, events, and internship opportunities that enriched the experiences of our participants. Over 80 young people directly benefited from the funded initiatives, with many reporting significant personal and professional growth. Access to Gucci’s resources and networks inspired young people to pursue ambitious goals they previously considered unattainable. Fitness Sessions: Fitness Sessions were offered to two separate groups of young people weekly as a means to support the physical and mental well-being of participants and to promote regular physical activity. UEL Programme: RISE 365 collaborated with UEL to compile a detailed report on RISE 365’s service delivery and effectiveness within the community. It was a partnership with aligned with our organisations aims and objectives whilst highlighting the community impact of the work we’ve continued to do. Youth Workshop, Youth Voice Matters: A workshop dedicated to engaging young people in meaningful discussions about police powers with focus on topics such as stop and search, and your rights. Emoji Campaign: A campaign dedicated to challenging and changing the negative stereotypes associated with Afro and coarser hair textures, focusing on the need for representation in digital spaces such as Emoji’s to combat exclusion and marginalisation. RISE 365 dedicated time to amplifying the voices and experiences of our young people who feel overlooked due to the lack of inclusive emoji options. Our stakeholders are young people and the community. We are continually in communication with our stakeholders through discussions and questionnaires. Our organisation is youth led, the young people are involved in the planning and delivery process. They discuss the social issues challenging young people and work on raising awareness to educate people and make a positive change to these issues. We have received lots of feedback from our customers through our community shop, they are very grateful and have expressed the importance of us keeping the shop open to support them which we have.
