Dance Collective CIC ran several community benefit projects in the 2023-2024 financial year. Family Dance is a longstanding project supported by Conwy Culture that provides free sessions for families living in Conwy that promote family bonding and wellbeing. They are delivered in partnership with Venue Cymru and the Conwy Culture team as part of the Conwy Young Creatives programme. Building on the success of previous projects we supported Vertical Dance Kate Lawrence to deliver a youth led project where young people took the lead to offer free aerial dance workshops to their community under the guidance of Vertical Dance Kate Lawrence. We were proud to have the film created as part of summer of fun 2022 selected to be presented as part of One Dance UKs U.Dance on Screen at the Southbank in London. We were able to support a young dancer is in the film and has begun studying dance a Northern School of Contemporary Dance to attend the screening to represent the film. The young dancer has since been selected as a Dance Ambassador for One Dance UK representing Wales and advocating for dance opportunities for young people in rural communities. The Casglu programme of continual professional development continued supporting over 20 artists including professional artists with learning disabilities to be able to network and train. In November Dance Collective CIC began delivering free bilingual Dance for Parkinson’s sessions with funding from Conwy Wellbeing. The pilot term ran for 6 weeks into December with students from Ysgol Eirias supporting as part of their studies. The classes continued then with funding from the Arts Council Wales’ Health and Wellbeing strand. The Conwy Wellbeing team then supported the delivery of 10 weeks of Dance and Dementia sessions in Mochdre in which Dance Collective CIC was able to upskill local artists to deliver Dance and Dementia Sessions. Participants and families of the participants have been extremely grateful for the sessions, stating the different their make to both their health and wellbeing. Dance Collective CIC secured funding from the UKSPF for Dance Development in Conwy. This funded enabled the company to continue the Dance for Parkinson’s sessions after the initial pilot alongside the funding from Arts Council Wales, as well as offer many other community sessions including sessions for 0-3s and their families and sessions for children with additional needs. Free sessions for 0-3s in Mochdre engaged over 20 families and again provided the opportunity for a local artist to upskill to be able to deliver the sessions that are grounded in research into child development. The sessions for children with additional needs continued for free to families under this funding. These sessions continue to help reduce isolation for families of children with additional needs and disabilities whilst providing a safe, fun and stimulating environment for the children. Trap A Zoid was a free performance that was developed in partnership with Oriel Mostyn, made possible through the Dance Development in Conwy Project. Dance Collective CIC were able to engage 4 dancers, a choreographer, musician and a sound designer to develop a site specific piece responding to the exhibition of the work of New York based artist Rosemarie Castoro. Artists involved in the project enjoyed the opportunity to work with performance in the area in which they live. Audiences were delighted at seeing something so different that really sparked the imagination and asked questions of what is art and what is dance.
The company’s stakeholders are the communities of North Wales. We are in constant discussions with communities in North Wales who benefit from our work. Conwy County Council continues to fund the work we do as they recognise the positive impact it has for the communities of the region. We listen regularly to feedback from communities and adapt our offer in response. Local artists were keen for more development opportunities to be able to diversify what they can offer as artists and as a result we have been able to offer mentoring opportunities in dance for early years and dance for dementia. Local artists again asked for more opportunities to perform and create work locally, we therefore have pursued opportunities to make this possible.
The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £7,009.30. This was for their delivery on projects that utilise their skills and expertise. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for directors' loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
