Company activities and impact

Our primary objective has been establishing KeyStone Community CIC to deliver education and training opportunities for residents and, where feasible, facilitating their placement into employment, either within KeyStone or with external organisations. In line with this goal, we successfully offered employment opportunities to residents. This initiative included providing training and guidance to enable residents of our properties to participate in renovation projects in Liverpool and Wigan. As a result, a renovated property in Wigan is now leased to the local authority, offering accommodation to a family that previously faced homelessness.

Consultation with stakeholders

We have addressed gaps in knowledge and expertise among residents by providing tailored training. Over time, we have progressively expanded the range of skills residents acquire, beginning with basic tasks such as painting and advancing to more complex activities, including tiling and kitchen installation. This comprehensive training equips residents with valuable property renovation skills that will serve them well in the future. In collaboration with Wigan Council, we assessed the scope of renovations required to transform a property into a safe and compliant home for a family. The Council maintained regular oversight throughout the renovation process to ensure the property would meet the standards necessary for long-term occupancy. Additionally, we have partnered with local charities to carry out renovation work and, where appropriate, to ensure the property is fully furnished for families. This includes support for families fleeing conflict, such as those affected by the war in Ukraine.
