We feel passionate about mental health as a topic and are keen to see a change in community attitudes. We believe communities have the skills and ability to effect mindset and change, which is why we work at grassroots level to support them from within. The Lantern Initiative works to educate and raise awareness around mental health issues in Muslim communities. We provide platforms for Muslims to discuss mental health topics more openly, thereby reducing the associated stigma. We carry our work out through events, workshops, coffee mornings and retreats all centred around mental health and psychology. The Lantern Initiative is a not-for-profit community group. Our services and projects are funded by grants and donations from various charities and individuals. Some events will be self-sustaining, supported by the sales of tickets and books.
