Feminist Exchange Network is a small CIC. We use social and activist art as a way to involve people in reimagining the local economy, discussing ideas of feminist economics in a way that is accessible to everyone. In the year April 23 - March 24 we have helped our local community to discuss ideas of alternative economics in accessible ways by: The Planet Abundance project takes artist Teresa Feldmann’s draft for a feminist science fiction as a starting point to collectively imagine a post-patriarchal world after capitalism. Our collaboration is an inter-local work in progress. As we share our experiences and practices as musicians; visual and performance artists; environmental activists; and art-based researchers from diverse race, class and gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds and geographic locations, we aim to learn collective strategies for listening to each other’s stories and building wiser futures in a time of unprecedented environmental challenges. On Saturday 9th March 2024 we held the first prototype Feminist Tabletop Football game at Rumpus Room, funded by Arts Development Fund. Feminist Tabletop Football is a participatory artwork in the form of a cooperative table-top football game, played on a hexagonal board between three teams. The game builds on the Situationist ideas of cooperative football, adapting the format to explore intersectional feminism through the medium of cooperative football. Through this first game we were able to identify adaptations and changes to take the project forward next year. Our mobile library project has enabled us to help our local community to access books for adults and children and explore how alternative economics work and understand how they can be applied in local situations. The mobile library was taken to several local events with people participating in workshops.
At our events we undertake evaluation which includes questions on what participants and members would like to see more of or what feminist activities they'd want to participate in.
