We toured our playable family theatre show The Munch Mission! giving 18 performances between May-August 2023. 2 of these performances were free of charge and happened in wards experiencing high levels of deprivation in Wiltshire and south Wales. We toured our playable family theatre show The Midnight Mission! giving 8 performances between Oct -Nov 2023. One of these was free of charge and presented in a library in south Wales in an area experiencing high levels of deprivation. We presented our science / theatre installation The Discovery Lab twice during the reporting period, both at large community events that were entirely free of charge in Bristol and Dorchester. This was the same for our Halloween sketch The Pumpkins which we performed free of charge at a community event in Hartcliffe (BS13) and in Dorchester. Bristol City Council and the West of England Combined Authority commissioned us to co-create a free sound walk with community members in Stockwood, south Bristol (BS14) an area experiencing deprivation and semi-rural isolation. We provided 13 free public access events and engaged 664 direct participants with this commission. The sound walk remains totally free to access for anyone. We ran a free family arts day in Hartcliffe (BS13) in May 2023, engaging 50 direct participants in performances of circus and arts and crafts. We ran a Bronze Arts Award free of charge at Bridge Learning Campus (BS13), working with young people aged 15-16. They performed at the Bristol Improv Theatre and all gained their qualification from Trinity College London in May 2023. We returned to the school in Feb - May 2024 to run a Discover Level arts award course, again free of charge. Young people on this course aged between 11-15 performed at the Bristol Old Vic and all are set to gain their qualification. We provided 2 free Company of International Artists workshops at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery during this time, and also at a free community event in Corby, at a primary school in Filton (BS7) and at a free community event at Filton Library (BS7). We provided 10 free guided sound walks for community members in Bristol between Oct - Dec 2023.
Company directors Gillian Simmons, Paul Lawless remained with the company for the duration of this reporting period. Director Katie Chalk resigned in June 2023 and was replaced with Ruth Hill. We met on a weekly basis with at least 2 directors present, and on a monthly basis with all 3 directors, to plan company activity, discuss new ideas for how to reach other vulnerable groups in the immediate area of Hartcliffe and Withywood and to share knowledge about new contacts we may have made through individual networking. We received feedback and suggestions from the community during this period through word of mouth, from people attending events we were running, and through social media feedback.
Katie Chalk received no remuneration during this period. Gillian Simmons and Paul Lawless, received monthly remuneration from grants secured by the company to facilitate creative activities or give performances, and Ruth Hill received one payment from a National Lottery Million Hours grant awarded to the company in August 2023. All payments were paid in a freelance capacity, with directors invoicing the company only when there were grants secured by the company when these grants included freelance artist fees for those directors to deliver that activity.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
