Company activities and impact We Are Black Journos is an events and network platform bringing together Black journalists and broadcasters, and creating a safe networking space where we can connect and learn from each other, and grow a presence in a predominantly white industry. As well as having a large online presence, we also have a new membership platform specifically for engaging with Black journalists within our network. There are shockingly now less than 5% Black journalists in the UK, so through our campaigning and collaborative events, we've now been able to build a presences across the UK, having worked with the biggest media organisations globally recognised too - in the US and West Africa. Main aims:- Create a safe space and networking amongst each other- Build our effective mentoring scheme- Partner with organisations wanting us in their spaces and to increase diversity and inclusion within the workforce- Continue to provide opportunities for current and budding Black journalists-Working on building our membership Consultation with stakeholders
Our stakeholders are amongst the following organisations: News U.K., Marie Claire U.K., The Bureau of Investigative Journalists, Greenpeace U.K., The Canary U.K., The Financial Times. We regularly produce social media content as well as extensive event planning with the assistance of our stakeholders who we form paid partnerships with through advertising of job roles.
