The company's principal activity during the year continued to be carrying out work for the benefit of the UK general public to improve the environment, economy and the public's relationship with food by communicating how much good food is wasted in the UK, and what can be done to prevent it. This is Rubbish C.I.C. started its current primary project Plenty to Share in April 2020. Online resources and partnerships continued to be formed during this financial year in order to reach a wider audience and build a network of support between organisations which focus on both or either food waste reduction and (food) poverty reduction. From September 2023 - April 2024, 9 workshops on food waste and food justice were delivered online and in-person with grassroots and frontline food aid organisations across the UK. These workshops engaged over 100 people and were attended by staff and volunteers from food aid organisations, local councils, community centres, children and youth organisations and public health departments. During the year, the company was also commissioned to develop and deliver workshops for wider audiences framed around the Plenty to Share project. Larger scale public engagement activities which ceased due to Covid-19 have not been restarted. This is Rubbish C.I.C has a small, dedicated team of volunteers who engage with other larger NGO's to raise the profile of the issue of systemic and supply chain food waste.
