COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

SEEKOUT CIC

Year Ending: 31 May 2024

Company activities and impact

SeekOut CIC activities surround the facilitation of arts, music and well-being within Gisburn forest, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Alongside one of our partners, Forestry England, our volunteers have worked to improve access to the stage in the forest by laying accessible pathways. We have also developed the sound booth and invested in festoon lighting. Our very first event, SeekOut Arts and Music Festival, was held in July 2023 and provided a high quality music, arts and well-being programme. Our audience was diverse in age with a high proportion of children who enjoyed the many interactive arts workshops, theatre shows and forest school activities. We invited families from the local Pasta Scheme who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to travel and experience the area.

Consultation with stakeholders

All our volunteers were invited to attend a debrief following the festival to discuss what areas need to be improved. These included better signage, more volunteers and more site decoration. Improvements in these areas took place in 2024 and stakeholders were invited to join 'Making' workshops where bunting and tent dressing were produced. Other stakeholders include our partners Forestry England and The Grand Clitheroe, both of which whose representatives attended the festival. Directors met with these organisations post festival and both were keen to continue with their support. Consultation from other festival attendees did not take place in 2023 and the company intends to implement this in future.
