We produced 16 episodes of the Hopeful Activists’ Podcast, designed to inspire and equip people to address injustice in their communities, and received thousands of podcast downloads. We planned and ran our Praxis Labs 2 online course, aimed at existing activists and community organisers, to help them make their campaigning or community work more effective, and also avoid burning out. We established and supported ‘activist circles’ for those who attended our Praxis Labs course (these function as peer support groups). We also finished writing our book, ‘The Hopeful Activist’, which condenses much of the wisdom gained through interviewing activists for our podcast, and through running our Labs courses. The book was released in May 2024. All activities are aimed at those of Christian faith, and are designed to benefit the wider community by encouraging activism, campaigning and social action to alleviate poverty. We know of several new initiatives and projects established as a result of our work.
The company was established to provide benefit to those suffering poverty by encouraging activism, and to members of the Christian faith community, by increasing understanding of the importance of sustainable development and the relief of poverty in a holistic Christian theology. Our stakeholders are therefore very broad, and drawn from these two categories. We have consulted with stakeholders in three primary ways this year: 1.We conducted 1:1 interviews and consultations with a number of activists to inform our work writing our book, ‘The Hopeful Activist’. 2.We ask everyone who completes the Praxis online courses to complete a survey indicating how well the course met their needs, what they intend to do differently as a result, and suggestions for future improvement of the course. 3.Through the podcast interviews and related discussions, we have had in-depth conversations with existing Christian activists and those who previously experienced hardship, regarding the needs present in the UK, and the role of activists in seeking to address them. Our learning from these interviews is documented in the podcast.
The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £4,684. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which are required to be disclosed.
