COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

DIGITAL WOODOO CIC

Company Number: 13008603 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 November 2024

Company activities and impact

We have continued our collaboration with a local community group and the specialist WikiHouse architect to develop the project for the construction of single storey community building and staff office pod, to include public restrooms, multi-purpose halls and solar panel array. The aim of the development is to provide highly efficient, sustainable eco-buildings that will provide additional revenue streams for the Community Group by enabling larger indoor events to be held on site. The new purpose built offices for the charity will free up valuable space within the existing Coach House. The design process has been completed, we submitted the planning application and planning permission was achieved early 2024. Earlier this year we were asked by a local CIC to help with developing plans for repurposing a redundant industrial building into a community hub to provide an ‘ accessible space for community groups to meet, for making activities that feed the town’s numerous festivals and for organisations that support the community to be based and provide their essential services’

Consultation with stakeholders

Our work with local stakeholders has continued and we have increased our social media presence with a revised website and we have completed our revised brochure which we have made available through our website. We have also been talking to potential funders to support our development of our micro factory. We have looked at a number of larger premises to expand our business and this search is ongoing. In order to quantify the impact of material selection on the green credentials of our offer, we have been working with Cumbria University to assess the carbon footprint associated with the various staple materials used in our buildings. This will provide us with an evidence based tool to be able to inform potential clients of the carbon impact of the choices associated with material choices. We have also been working with the REACH fund to help develop our cash flow model and help with our marketing strategy. We have also continued attending social enterprise events across Cumbria and continue to network with other CIC organisations to help promote our business and increase the awareness of carbon negative building systems.
