  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods and from the rendering of services. Turnover is reduced for estimated customer returns, rebates and other similar allowances.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost of the fixed assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives on the following bases: Plant & Machinery (5 Yrs)

Company activities and impact

Stryx Projects C.I.C’s reach goes beyond Birmingham, to areas and cities that are less culturally rich, like Coventry, Wolverhampton, Walsall, and West Bromwich. By doing so we have enabled communities who may be less engaged in contemporary arts to access high quality, free of charge events and exhibitions. Stryx Projects C.I.C programs invited the audiences to experience the process of art making and exhibition production creating an open platform for learning and growth. It provided employment for freelance creatives allowing them to fulfil their potential in the creative industries. Funding from WMCA to develop regional and artistic collaborations to promote and strengthen an accessible and vibrant network of ideas and practices. Stryx Projects C.I.C have strong links in communities with significant crime rate and unemployment or high number of specific age groups. elderly residents. Sparkbrook: 23.8% unemployed, 33% of elementary occupations and plant and machine operatives; Digbeth: 79,3% non-working students residents and 4,6% unemployed residents , 23,8% of elementary occupations and plant and machine operatives; Winson Green: 32.1% unemployed residents; 36.8% of elementary occupations and plant and machine operatives also representing High crime rate; West Bromwich: 20.4% unemployed residents; also representing High crime rate Walsall: 24% unemployed residents, also representing High crime rate Solihull: 2.6%unemployed residents

Consultation with stakeholders

We encourage and enable schools, colleges and universities to develop students' work exhibitions by allowing external organisations to use our gallery, space. Stryx Projects C.I.C delivers talks and workshops around the West Midlands area, and amongst many others this include work with: The Chinese Community Centre – Chinese senior citizens (age 50+) Pupils, 10-11 year olds (KS2) Special educational needs college - aged 16-25 Care home / retirement village - (85+ years old) Women group of all ages, with low self esteem and mental health issues As a result of this collaboration, Stryx Projects C.I.C created developmental opportunities for diverse groups, through work placements provided, internships & volunteering opportunities. This allowed others to gain valuable experience in working in a real-life art & business environment.

Directors' remuneration

The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £13,326. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
