April 23- March 24 Activity and Impacts This period saw several applications for funding from various grant giving bodies two major events, an arts residency. We received funding from the Warwick University Institute of Engagement, Inclusive Communities. April- STAMP began the year as a creative Arts Collaborator on a Collaboration Grant of £3000 which was awarded to Professor Orkun Soyer from Life Sciences at the University of Warwick to develop public engagement with his research on cyanobacteria. As part of this award, STAMP associate artist Ben Jack Nash completed a mini residency in Life Sciences and a workshop was held with artists from different backgrounds – music, poetry, animation - to explore ideas for representing and engaging the public with this research. A short marketing animation was completed to support applications for further funding to bring the world of micro-organisms that live in water and are responsible for oxygenating the atmosphere through the arts to the wider public. https://www.stamproductions.co.uk/uncategorized/news/artist-in-residence-cyanobacteria/ July Ben Robinson and Catherine Eliot Kemp resigned as directors and handed over to Edward Dyer who took over their roles in marketing and finance in July 23. Catherine and Ben who were founder directors with Claudette Bryanston and Gillian Hundt remain Associate Directors. October As a result of the film ‘Hidden Histories Migration Stories’ made in the previous financial year on Jewish Watchmakers, The Herbert Museum and Art Gallery hosted an exhibition entitled ‘My Coventry’ in which the film on a continuous loop was shown to the public. The Gallery hosts many thousands of visitors each year. The curators stated that the exhibition was a great success with people travelling from all over the UK to see the story of some of the earlier migrants to the city in the early part of the 20th century. November/December The film ‘Hidden Histories Migration Stories’ was shown to members of Earlsdon Park Retirement Village and the wider public and residents contributed their own migration stories. This was well attended approx. 200 people and £1000 raised for a local refugee charity. https://www.stamproductions.co.uk/past-productions/hidden-histories-migration-stories/ Directors agreed to apply to the Community Inclusion Grant for up to £30,000 managed by The Heart of England Trust. This was for the purpose of carrying out workshops and research on the role of carers both paid and unpaid in preparation for a production (Working Title INSIDE by Alexandra Johnson) at The Belgrade Theatre Coventry Meetings with There was a Resonate Festival at the University Warwick led by the Institute of Public Engagement, University of Warwick which used images and feedback from STAMP to add to the work of creative arts organisations in the region. Preparatory work began on Research and Development for a play, INSIDE, on dementia care to be produced by STAMP CIC and The Belgrade Theatre Coventry in 2025. Contacts were made with local community organisations such as Care Homes.
We have carried out collaborative projects with partners who have provided both funding and research. These were the University of Warwick School of Life Sciences and the Warwick Institute of Engagement. Stakeholders and collaborators met through workshops throughout the process and were informed about it at every stage. Stakeholders for the Earlsdon Park Hidden Histories event shaped the event, contributed their own migration stories and received support from STAMP to share those stories at the public event. Other stakeholders and participants involved in the Jewish Watchmaker’s Film project were, The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum Coventry for the presentation of a film, stories and artifacts as a continuation of the Watchmaker’s project. The Jewish Community and the History Society presented the exhibition and identified connected elements in the Herbert GalleryArchive which were available for the public to view. Coventry city Council staff and councillors were present at the launch at the Herbert Gallery.
