Company activities and impact

RMD Adventure Learning continued to deliver Bramley Youth Club in the Bramley, Hampshire community funded by the Parish Council. The youth club supports young people in school years 3 – 9 and on average we had between 30-40 young people attend the club weekly throughout the terms. The sessions provide the young people with respite from their weekly routine to be with their peers, develop new friendships, build upon their self-esteem and resilience. The youth club has become a valued asset to the community and is supported by the parents, our funders and the young people themselves. RMD Adventure Learning continued to provide Private Mentoring with Counselling Skills (now called Specialist Mentoring Services) provision supporting children, young people and adults on government funded statutory waiting lists. This support provision has benefitted children, young people, and adults within our community and beyond who have been referred by our local Childrens Services, out of county Housing Associations, Charities, and self-referral. The service provision provided added value to the community by supporting children, young people, and adults in the here and now of their situations. We have eased the strain on public statutory services therefore adding value to our community’s and wider communities support networks. RMD Adventure Learning undertook a lead role in developing a Regional Youth Work Unit for the South-East of England during the 2022-23 financial year. This initiative was supported by the Network of Regional Youth Work Units. (Regional Youth Work Units (RYWUs) act as hubs for developing and supporting youth work in their regions, working with commissioners, providers, and young people themselves to ensure the sector is well-informed, skilled, and responsive to changes in government policies and young people’s needs. They are a core element of infrastructure support for the youth sector in their regions.) The growth of the regional unit continued with funding being received from The Department for Culture, Education and Sport, YMCA George Williams College and The National Youth Agency. This enabled RMD Adventure Learning to employee two administrators, hold a sector wide conference in partnership with the NYA and enable the South East to access a bursary scheme to receive a qualification in youth work at either level 2 or level 3. Through the growth of the unit RMD Adventure Learning were able to increase awareness of our organisation and the Youth Work Unit throughout the South East, we held monthly meetings with sector partners looking at impact and measurements practice, sector updates and enabled statutory sector organisations and large charities the opportunity to access grass roots community organisations across the south east. RMD Adventure Learning are pleased to be continuing working with the Network of Regional Youth Work Units in the development of the Youth Focus South-East RYWU
