COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

WASTE KNOT CIC

Company Number: 08848816 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 March 2024

Company activities and impact

The CIC began collecting waste/out of date food from a local community hub (food bank) and turning it into compost via the Ridan composter. The CIC also rented a raised bed from the host allotment site and began hosting a local nursery school which visited for a regular period during the growing season so the children could learn how things grow from seed and what some of the vegetables grown tasted like. It takes time to mature the compost and only a little was ready by the year end but it was used to top up the raised bed which was to be used by the local nursery school at the start of the growing season.

Consultation with stakeholders

The CIC liaisied with the host allotment group, the community hub and the local nursery school re their requirements.
