Company activities and impact

In 2023, we launched the "Empower Africans to Thrive" project, which featured a variety of events, including the Mayor of London’s Cultural Weekend in the Finsbury Park ward. We collaborated with organisations such as Minorities Matter, Age UK Islington, and GrandMentors from children's social services. Building on this success, we partnered with London Metropolitan University to host a series of talks and an evening conference with community leaders. The event featured an Islington community panel of Black leaders and special guest speakers from across London, focusing on improving opportunities and addressing inequality. We hosted a Black History creative arts and crafts workshops at festivals and Islington community centres indoor workshops over a six-month programme attended by approximately 720 people including a monthly Library Series educating families, youth and interested parties on the History of the Black Experience in the UK, Windrush and around the World. Organised outdoor festivals attended by between 3,000 and 4,000 members in the community in particular Queen Jubilee and Mayor of London Cultural Weekend. Impact was giving the African Communities primarily from Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea a sense of pride and freedom to have a day celebrating their heritage. It was an opportunity for the Islington North community to experience cross cultural integration that combated isolation and loneliness more importantly racial discrimination. Organised Black History Month panel discussion conference attended by members in the community of which 10% university students, 50% attended by other community organisers, 30 % local residents 20 % visitors from other boroughs discussing how we could make social changes together and influence hostile policies Collaborated with several festivals, meetings and community centres in Islington borough to help us connect with different Islington Wards – these include: Bunhill, Finsbury Park, St Marys, Cally, Arsenal, Laycock, Holloway, Canal, Clerkenwell and Mildmay
