We have had another very successful year in serving our community through a variety of programmes and activities under our 3-pillars 1. Motivational Well-being Programmes 2. Football / other recreational services and 3. Employability skills workshops, work experience opportunities and other youth issues. Again we were able to secure project funding to provide services for free to our community which consist mainly of disadvantaged children and young people (CYP) addressing complex needs, primarily from BAME backgrounds in Lambeth (80%) have low no net wealth and income, so need these free intervention services. The free programmes we have delivered during this accounting year are as follows - Girls only football - Female only coaching leadership programme - Employability Skills Course for young parents as part of our Dream BiG Young Parents’ Hub We also ran all-inclusive football in the community at an affordable costs and as usual, and again delivered after school football services through commissioning services having a positive influence and impact on many CYP in primary school between Reception and year 6 groups, and our toddler football for 4-6 year-olds developing their agility balance and coordination through football - our ABC Football Programme.
There has been no such formal consultation. However, BiG always work very closely and collaboratively with key partners and key local services within Lambeth to discuss and learn lessons to better serve our community such as CAMHS, Health Visitors, social workers, Family support teams, Youth Offending Service, Children Centres, the Back on track team, and other local service providers. We however, developed a stronger relationship with CAMHS whist delivering the Youth Justice Sports Fund project - seen as one the London based exemplar projects - who were impressed with are handling and management in engaging and supporting their referral onto and on the programme. “Lionel’s passion for engaging young people in sports and activities aimed at promoting positive outcomes for their wellbeing, increasing resilience, social skills, and providing guidance for young people who experience challenges in their environments really shines through”
