COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

AUNTY JEN PRODUCTIONS CIC

Company Number: 13342073 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 April 2024

Company activities and impact

In 2023-2024 Aunty Jen Productions produced four theatre productions of The Wind in the Willows, with an especially commissioned new script; Shakespeare's The Tempest; the pantomime Puss in Boots; and Wilde's Lord Arthur Savile's Crime especially adapted for the theatre by one of our own Directors. These events were attended by just under 1500 audience members across 52 performances. The pantomime included a special performance in Studley Methodist Church with subsidised tickets for Ukrainian refugee families who were also served dinner by members of the cast. Another special performance of the pantomime included children from disadvantaged families who had attended several days' theatre and craft workshops, subsidised by Warwickshire County Council. During the summer, we led a week of children's theatre workshops at low prices for 37 children aged 4-14, culminating in a performance of The Wind in the Willows involving all of the children. As well as being fun and educational for the children, this gives parents valuable childcare at lower prices than those offered by commercial childcare providers. In addition to the theatre productions above, we produced two murder mystery events, which are an enjoyable way of bringing the local community together and are very popular with audiences. The production of The Tempest was coupled with a major "Shakespearience" event. An all day festival with achery, sword fighting demonstations, historical dancing, stalls and other attractions. The company has a number of volunteers who design and make costumes, and who work in front of house at the performances. These volunteers first started working during the Covid lockdown and have chosen to continue. This is a valuable social activity for all involved
