artPost21 exists to support creativity arts, technology and social justice.
It achieves this primarily through the following outputs:
1. Books: The research, development, authorship, commissioning, design, publication, and global distribution of books on overlooked queer, non-binary and women artists who otherwise would not have a platform to be seen in mainstream culture. Its flagship series is entitled imagine/otherwise and published in partnership with Sternberg Press. artPost21’s fundraises the cost of these publications and ensures the equitable payment of all parties in the supply chain. It contributes its expertise to the development of all aspects of these publications, from conception through to associated public events. All these endeavors are subsidized by artPost21 (as they otherwise would not occur) and are realized and brokered in partnership with mainstream publishers and any income generated is re-invested into producing further publications. Publications produced in this fiscal year included the first monograph on Polish-British artist, Magda Stawarska and the first monograph on the late Indian artist, Lalitha Lajmi by Skye Arundhati-Thomas. Also published in this year was the first major publication to survey art in the Eastern Mediterranean in the 1960s. Helen Khal: Gallery One and Beirut in the 1960s published by Sternberg Press, edited by Carla Chammas, Rachel Dedman and Omar Kholeif.
