In a Pickle Farm Sanctuary CIC was formed to promote the advancement of animal welfare to the public by caring for injured, sick and maltreated animals with particular focus on those from or in agricultural circumstances. At the date of this report and since the start of the financial year to which this report pertains, In a Pickle CIC has rescued and made provisions for a further 64 agricultural animals who were in need of improvement to their welfare. Through these rescues, we have provided local owners of hotels, holiday lets and cafes with information regarding things such as egg welfare, animal produce standards with the view to helping them switch to welfare friendly produce for their consumer base. This has been done through information leaflets and group talks. We have also initiated conversations with promoters and organisers of events in the area which also share an agricultural aspect with the view to accessing a wider audience base on the importance of agricultural animal welfare and highlighting the occurrences or agricultural animal diseases (i.e bird flu/blue tongue/TB). Most recently, we have spoken with North York Moors National Parks (NYMNP) with regards to proper practice around livestock and awareness of legislation. We continue to make further provision for the rescue animals in our care within the farm and improve upon the holding areas such as purchase of mud control mats during a particularly difficult winter and creation of enrichment areas as well as administration of veterinary treatments.
