CARNA CONSERVATION INITIATIVE C.I.C.

Directors' report period ended 30 April 2024

The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 30 April 2024

Principal activities of the company

Carna Conservation Initiative known as Carconi, continues to be a vehicle, gathering local expertise together to both discuss and create projects around how best to protect and enhance the very unique flora and fauna across the land, shores and waters surrounding The Isle of Carna. In the financial year 2023 to 2024 Carconi was active in organising, gaining support for and promoting Hope Week, that ran in July 2024. Inviting locals with expertise across ecology, sustainability, farming, boat chartering, film making, loch snorkelling, to share their knowledge with a selected group of local school children and teachers to the Isle of Carna for a week to learn about and encourage the uptake of conservation, potential employment options in the locality, highlight the unique position of Carna. Carconi does not employ anyone currently and time is given on a 100% volunteer basis. Over the next year, if the right funding can be identified, we would like to applying for funding to employ someone from the local community as a Project Manager. The work of Carconi benefits the Ardnamurchan community by promoting and protecting the area, to benefit the generations to come.
