Salaam Festival has developed a year round programme of educating schools and communities in traditional and contemporary Islamic arts. We specifically worked with arts heritage, objects of history, photography, live music and poetry. Our particular emphasis was on working with young people, adults and elderly communities across Manchester and the North West from Black and Global Majority backgrounds. Our aims have been to foster change and understanding between communities through art and creativity. During the financial year 2023-2024, the festival’s activities have benefited the community in the following ways: -150 students have enjoyed art and poetry classes across the academic year -local Manchester communities have been able to buy access high quality art workshops from leading artists which include calligraphers, illustrators, poets and musicians - We have recruited 10 volunteers to support our ground work - We have worked with 5 key artists across the year - In Oct 2024 we delivered a 7 day festival featuring 24 artists with an attendance of 2,500 people in Manchester venues - 97% of attendees have rated their experience with the Festival as “Excellent”
