COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

DRAWING BOARD PRODUCTIONS COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Company Number: 12591996 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 December 2024

Company activities and impact

In 2024 we consolidated our eleven hyperlocal publications into two Borough wide publications, covering Stockport and South Manchester. We then went on to launch a further three Borough wide publications covering Trafford, the North of Cheshire East and North Manchester. All five Post publications are positive community newspapers with content provided by local community groups, schools, charities and businesses and we work with a volunteer network of over 70 residents to deliver to 13,000 homes in the Heatons, Reddish, Cheadle, Gatley, Cheadle Hulme, Bramhall, Offerton, Hazel Grove, Wythenshawe, Chorlton, Didsbury, Burnage, Stretford and Sale. The papers have been an essential asset to their communities since the pandemic and have ensured isolated, vulnerable and digitally excluded members of the community can still access positive local news in print without the need for online access or social media. The newspapers also provide a free and accessible platform for widespread communication of local community news, Council updates, Public Health notices and advice from Citizens Advice and Fraud Counsellors, helping local community groups and charities to reach residents without cost, and promote and grow their services, and ensuring trusted and informative news and updates reach those most in need. We also published a Manchester focused arts and culture supplement magazine and a new issue of the Stockport Arts & Culture magazine to support the arts and culture sector.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders are local community groups, charities, schools and businesses who provide news articles for the newspapers. We regularly consult with them through email correspondence and social media to check the newspapers serve them in the most effective manor. No changes to our working processes have been needed following this ongoing consultation. We also have our readership as a key stakeholder group and have a feedback form for them to communicate what features they would like us to include. Suitable adjustments are made to feature content as appropriate, which has led to inclusion of crosswords, horoscopes, advice columns and poetry activities. We undertake a Social Impact study every year and publish this online to show the positive outcomes we achieve through our community publications and community events.

Directors' remuneration

Amounts paid or payable to the Directors of Drawing Board Productions CIC for services provided total £58,400 (2023: £57,600) and are included within administration costs of the Profit and Loss Account. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
