Company activities and impact

DGOWL CIC is an organisation that delivers outdoor learning in Dumfries and Galloway. The year May 2023 - May 2024 was particularly successful and busy: Sixty Branching Out days over five programmes at four locations for people who could benefit from improving their mental health. DGOWL CIC contracted a part time Branching Out project officer and nine leaders to deliver sessions both to schools and Branching Out. Resources for Teachers, Taking Literacy Outside Leaflet for teachers and parents. Four CLPL sessions for teachers at four venues. Twenty schools visited delivering outdoor maths sessions for pupils with their teachers as part Maths Week Scotland. Delivered Outdoor Literacy sessions for Early Years children and their teachers at four schools. Working with two secondary schools delivering Outdoor learning to pupils with their teachers. Two Members meetings. A visioning day for members

Consultation with stakeholders

A visioning day was held for DGOWL members in which a future plan was outlined. We consulted and collaborated with a number of different referral services including Alcohol and Drug Support, NHS, Change Mental Health, GPs, Adult Resources Centres. Collaborating with D&G Council Education Department to develop and deliver high quality outdoor learning to schools. We gathered feedback from teachers, parents, pupils and Branching Out participants.
