To provide support, advocacy and befriending for Autistic people and their families To promote a neuro-affirming understanding of Autistic identity to statutory services and public sector organisations To work strategically with statutory sectors to improve the lives of autistic people. We have created an autistic navigator programme; peer to peer befriending We have created several gatherings across the county monthly so Autostic people can be their true selves and meet other Autistic people to form friendships We have worked with the LA on their Autism Strategy and attend regularly the following monthly meetings: Safeguarding partnership board Intersectionality partnership board autism partnership board Children’s partnership board Police community liaison panel This has increased our membership to over 300 signed up members , over 1500 autistic people and their family on our social media accounts and we have tried over 2000 people(including NHS and social care / education) in understanding autistic identity through our “autistic experience” training programme
Mostly autistic people and their families but also statutory services. We have completed satisfaction surveys without membership and receive feedback from training and consultancy activities from statutory sectors on the information we provide. It has been phenomenal. We have also recently done a joint project with the university of Exeter and the NHS on clinical research outcomes and engagement for autistic people which I presented to the NHS research engagement network in 2024. This will lead to further research around life outcomes for autistic people.
