  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    The full turnover and loss on ordinary activities before taxation is attributatble to the company's main activities and includes grants drawn down.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost less depreciation. Depreciaton is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost less estimated residual value of each asset over it's expected useful life, as follows: Plant, Machinery and Office Equipment @ 25% reducing balance

Company activities and impact

Our registered objectives are to provide infrastructure support to social enterprises, be a supportive voice for the sector, build links with public, private and Voluntary sectors in order to provide social and environmental benefits to people in the Wessex area. Social Enterprises and individuals in the Wessex community have benefited from our work in the past year, by 1) Having more access to the local Social Enterprise market of goods and services, through our promotion and publicity of our member’s goods and services and of the sector. 2) Being able to take part in Solent Social Enterprise Zone activities. 3) Being able to participate in video and in person based Social Enterprise networking, consortia work, training and other social enterprise business infrastructure support. 4) Having access to free Information, Advice and Guidance on all aspects of Community Economic and social development provided by Social Enterprise Link (Wessex) CIC 5) The positive outcomes of our work with organisations from other economic sectors

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders include; Our members, Wider social enterprise sector enterprises, Wessex based anchor Institutions e.g. local Unitary and County Councils, Solent and Dorset LEP, AUB Bournemouth, Southampton, Solent, Portsmouth and Winchester Universities and Voluntary Sector lead organisations, The public, Private sector supporters of Social enterprise, We have continued to undertake video, in person and telephone consultations this year with stakeholders, especially through a UKSPF programme on local Social Enterprise Feasibility. We have also and been involved with collaborative projects and proposals with stakeholders. The feedback has been generally positive and supportive. The development of SEL and the broad social enterprise sector in Wessex continues to become more embedded in economic development plans by local organisations and we continue to see the sector grow.
