This year marked significant achievements, including producing a play, organising a theatre trip for young people, and hosting a celebratory film event for the community. Key Project: Don’t Write Me Off (R&D) Workshops & Collaboration: 12 young participants (YP) and 11 professional creatives engaged in co-creation workshops, fostering collaboration and ownership. Research & Development (R&D): The play was refined with input from Face Front Theatre, Culture Within Newham, and East London Dance to ensure quality and inclusivity. Live Performances: Six performances in schools, a youth centre, a pupil referral unit (PRU), and a community venue, reaching 378 people. Online Engagement: A total project reach of 10,598 people, with 10,220 social media interactions. Educational Impact: Schools accessed online materials, with positive teacher feedback advocating for the play’s integration into curricula. Promotion & Media: A promotional film generated early interest. Media coverage included a review in Newham Voices. Partnerships with Stratford Youth Zone, Face Front, REIN, and Culture Within Newham enhanced outreach. Community Feedback: Participants and teachers praised the confidence-building aspects and inclusive environment. 2022-23: Transformation & Rebranding Actively SeeK.I.N.G... CIC (ASK) evolved strategically, focusing on innovation, leadership, and community impact. Key Developments Leadership & Learning: The director undertook a business master’s programme, driving insights into innovation and leadership. Rebranding & Mission Alignment: December 2022: ASK rebranded to reflect its values of Knowledge, Identity, Nurturing, and Gifts (K.I.N.G.), emphasizing support for young Black boys through the arts. Community consultations with teachers, church leaders, and stakeholders helped shape the new vision. Volunteer & Community Engagement: January 2023: First volunteer joined, providing consistent support. Weekly volunteer-led initiatives helped develop new projects aligned with the renewed mission. Collaborations & Outreach: Partnered with Acland Burghley School for a successful dance production at Artsdepot. Engaged in events at Bayes Business School & University of Westminster, deepening insights into the criminal justice system and its relevance to ASK’s mission. ASK has demonstrated significant growth, impact, and strategic alignment with its vision. Through creative arts, education, and community partnerships, the organization continues to empower young people and foster social change.
The company’s stakeholders are Arts Council England, REIN , Face Front Inclusive Theatre, Culture Within Newham, East London dance, Schools, Teachers ,students, Audience, guest, parents, participants. Our online engagement was remarkable, with 10,220 followers interacting with our promotional content on social media, culminating in a total project engagement of 10,598 people. This extensive reach not only amplified our visibility but also engaged a wide audience, generating interest & support beyond our immediate community. The involvement of YP in the R and D process was pivotal. Their feedback & interests directly shaped the play, resulting in effective word-of-mouth promotion. See attachment for YP impact statements & testimonials. Teachers accessed online educational materials, which enhanced the play's impact and extended its educational value. Positive feedback from educators suggested integrating the play into school curriculums for a more structured approach. We strategically used various channels to promote the project. A promo film generated early interest & articles submitted to the press, including a review by one of our YP in Newham Voices, highlighted our co-creation efforts. Targeted emails & collaborations with partners Stratford Youth Zone, Face Front, REIN, Culture Within Newham, and ELD effectively reached our audience. Audience members enjoyed the interactive elements & performance quality. Feedback from participants & teachers was overwhelmingly positive.
