Company activities and impact

The Recovery Festival 2023 took place on 20 June 2024 at Trinity Centre, Bristol. The aim of the event is to celebrate the stories and achievements of individuals, families and communities across the South West who have been impacted by addiction, isolation, homelessness, mental ill-health or other major lifc-disrupting circumstances. We have seen an increase in all numbers quoted below compared with 2023. For those in recovery from addiction, or from any other major life disruption, we offer a chance to celebrate achievernents, be inspired, build community and have fun. We enjoyed a day of talks, music, singing, creative workshops, alternative therapies, food, non-alcoholic drinks, mutual aid groups, infomrntion signposting, and opportunities for volunteering and relationship building.Aprox 900 people came to the free event, and the verbal and written feedback we received was excellent. We have had expressions of interest form 4 other cities in the UK considering holding similar events in their locality. For those still in active addiction we offer evidence that a worthwhile life of freedom from the substances orsituations that have trapped them is both possible and enjoyable. For those working in treatment and support organisations, we enable networking and help enhance knowledge and experience of recovery. and offer the opportunity to meet people who have survived, thrived and moved on to a better life. Relevant local agencies and charities held stalls for networking and providing information and signposting. 9 major local agencies provided funding support.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our major stakeholders last year were ARA Recovery for All, Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership. Bristol Drugs Project, Developing Health and Independence, Nelson Trust, Second Step, The Care Fornm, The Junction Project. All these agencies supported us in both kind by providing members of staff to the steering committee, and through donations. Bristol City Council also supported us financially and inHope provided our food for the day. Feedback from the 2024 event was excellent and all the agencies have expressed interest continuing to support the festival.
