Year Ending: 31 December 2024

Company activities and impact

Ootiboo CIC creates and delivers free, creative learning resources for primary schools and families. Our resources focus on three key areas: real-life learning, health and wellbeing, and climate awareness. The content is delivered in multiple ways, including curriculum-linked lesson plans and craft guides, in-school workshops led by professional educators, and creative craft competitions. In the 2023–24 financial year, our work has made a significant impact: Expanding Access to Education - 89 UK schools signed up, with a reach of over 33,000 students for our re-sources. - 18 international schools (across Europe, Africa, and Asia) joined, fostering cultural exchange between children in the UK and abroad. Health and Wellbeing - Secured Bexley Council funding to develop a healthy eating and childhood obesity workshop. - Delivered 9 workshops to 235 students across 5 primary schools in Kent and London. - Created digital resources, downloaded by 33 families for use at home. Numeracy - Partnered with BeGenio to run 5 maths workshops using the award-winning Race to Infinity board game, benefitting 130 students in 3 London primary schools. STEM & Environmental Education - Launched eCo: Connect, an interactive project where environmental experts pose questions to students, encouraging research, debate and creativity. - Developed The Blue Marble project, enabling schoolchildren to record video questions for astronauts, with 12 to be answered from space during the 2025 Fram2 space mission. Creative Arts & Music Engagement - Created step-by-step craft guides, downloaded by 100+ families, with artwork showcased in online galleries. - Held 4 seasonal craft competitions, engaging over 1,500 children and adults and awarding £700 in prizes. - Developed Story Sounds, a music improvisation workshop in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University. In February 2025, 32 students from 4 schools will visit the university to explore orchestral instruments and new music improvisation software.

Consultation with stakeholders

The companies’ primary stakeholders are teachers, educators, families, students, and project funders. We actively engage with them through regular consultation and feedback mechanisms to ensure our projects remain relevant, impactful, and aligned with educational needs. Strategic & Industry Expertise - The company runs an advisory board meeting each school term (6 across the year), attended by a panel of industry experts with backgrounds in education, marketing, finance, strategy and law. The panel gives advice on company direction, funding opportunities, outreach, and content development. Educator & Student Feedback - After each school workshop, participating teachers received feedback forms to provide insights on the session and suggest improvements. - At the end of workshops, children completed short feedback postcards, allowing them to influence future content in an accessible and engaging way. - Once per term, we hosted a Zoom consultation with teachers from key schools to discuss upcoming projects. Based on their feedback, we developed down-loadable National Curriculum Links for each project, helping educators integrate our resources into their lessons. - We piloted a Junior School Consultancy Programme. Nominated students join a Zoom session where they gain insight into our business and contribute ideas for new projects from their inception - this will be expanded in 2025. Project Funder Collaboration - We provide frequent updates to project funders, ensuring transparency and collaboration. For example, during the development of our healthy eating project, we held fortnightly meetings with Bexley Council, incorporating their feedback and inviting them to observe school workshops firsthand. The company also hired a professional children’s nutritionalist to ensure content and tone was correct. - We hold weekly meetings with children’s book publisher Farshore, a key project partner. These discussions cover project development, the use of Farshore’s IP to enhance resources, and strategies to increase children’s enjoyment of reading.
