Principal activities of the company

The Black Excellence Network (BEN) is a community-focused organisation dedicated to empowering Black students and young professionals by providing access to mentorship, career development, and networking opportunities. During the financial year, the network's principal activities included: - Hosting Events: BEN organised impactful events, including Project 2% and the Black X Conference, which brought together over 400 attendees, providing them with valuable learning and networking - Mentorship Programmes: The network completed its 4th mentorship cycle, where Black students were paired with professionals for guidance, helping them secure competitive university places and internships. - Community Building: BEN grew its membership base to over 2,000 members, expanding its reach and fostering a supportive community for young Black professionals and students. Through regular communications, such as newsletters, and surveys, we maintained strong engagement and ensured that the network’s activities were aligned with members' needs. - Volunteer Engagement: The network worked to rebuild and expand its volunteer team

In the financial year 2024, the Black Excellence Network (BEN) has made significant strides in benefiting the community in various impactful ways: * The network has hosted major events like Project 2% and the Black X Conference, bringing together over 400 attendees, which has provided valuable opportunities for learning, and collaboration for young Black professionals and students. * With a growing community of over 2,000 members, BEN has offered a platform for Black students and young professionals to access resources, and career development opportunities, helping them to thrive academically and professionally. * The completion of the 4th mentorship cycle has seen students securing competitive university places, demonstrating the positive impact of the network's mentorship and career guidance programmes. * The rebuilding of BEN's volunteer team has ensured that the network remains strong, with more hands on deck to support its initiatives, including the delivery of mentorship and events. * Through its events and initiatives, BEN has fostered a sense of community and empowerment, contributing to the professional and personal growth of its members and providing them with the tools to succeed in their careers.

Consultation with stakeholders

The Black Excellence Network's stakeholders include students, young professionals, mentors, and other community members engaged in our events and programs. The team at BEN frequently consults with these stakeholders to ensure that our initiatives are aligned with their needs and interests. We send regular newsletters to keep our community informed and engaged, providing updates on upcoming events, mentorship opportunities, and other resources. In addition, we send surveys and open questions using our CRM platform to inquire about the needs and feedback of our members, helping us gather valuable insights on how we can improve our services and better support their academic and professional growth. Through these channels, we gather feedback that informs our programming, such as identifying the specific challenges students face in their career journeys or understanding the types of events and resources they find most valuable
