Suicide awareness prevention UK (SAPUK) have supported people prior and throughout the pandemic via its SAPChat service, SAPUK support people who are struggling with crisis thus experiencing suicidal thoughts, with adequately trained members, some members being mental health / suicide first aiders, studying psychologists and more qualifications amongst the volunteers. SAPChat consists of a message line which rotates a blue & purple team (3 days on, 3 days off) who are available from tiara - 1 1pm but often runs over, depending on the person in crisis volunteers may well be online until early hours. SAPUK have a phone line that was active during this period but it closed due to lack of volunteers, currently SAPUK have 12 volunteers, meetings are of the regular within the group as new ways to reach out come to light.SAPUK share daily inspiration and check in regularly via vlogs/live videosSAPUK where unable to do any pop - up projects due to the corona virus, but were able to successfully run 'little sunshine's' adequately and safely throughout the summer, this engaged with several groups focusing on local children and encouraging positive mental health within the community.SAPUK will continue to reach out.
