Oxford City Angels CIC (OCA) are a proactive, early intervention safeguarding team operating to support the safety and security of women and reduce incidents of violence against women during the night-time economy. The OCA provides benefits to: 1. Women visiting Oxford during the night time economy 2. Statutory services(including Thames Valley Police and NHS) by helping to reduce the demand on their time and resources 3. Licensed venues operating during the night time economy by promoting a safe and inclusive environment for their customers During this period, OCA carried out over 100 interventions, protecting vulnerable individuals from potential harm. OCA currently patrol two Saturday nights per month and agreed to carry out special operations at the request of Thames Valley Police i.e. Halloween and May Day.
Oxford City Angels CIC forms part of the Oxford Night Safe Partnership. Working together with Oxford City Council, Thames Valley Police, Office of the Police Crime Commissioner, Oxford Street Pastors, Oxford Brookes university, University of Oxford and Licences Venues to provide a unified approach to work towards a shared goal of preventing violence against women and girls in Oxford at night. The partnership works closely to make Oxford a safe and enjoyable destination for a great night out. OCA meet regularly with our partners, building and developing these connections to improve the response to tackling violence against women. Further to this, OCA hold bi-monthly internal meetings with our volunteers in order to: - Gather feedback from their experience on the service - Understand their welfare needs - Organise and provide training (where appropriate) - Establish a sense of community and shared identity within the team
