Craft Conscious CIC has continued its vital work supporting mental health and wellbeing throughout the financial year 2023-2024. Our primary focus has been on delivering accessible mental health support through various channels, adapting our methods to ensure sustainable and effective service delivery. We offered a successful 10-week mental health themed craft course, providing creative therapeutic support to our community. When physical limitations necessitated a change in approach, we innovatively adapted our service delivery methods. This led to the development of more sustainable support systems, including one-to-one mental health coaching and mentoring, particularly benefiting individuals who have experienced significant childhood trauma. A significant aspect of our community engagement has been our involvement with Angels and Stars bereavement group, where we both provided teaching support and participated as a member. This dual role has deepened our understanding of grief support needs while allowing us to directly contribute to community healing. To enhance our service quality and reach, we invested substantially in professional development. This included completing an ILM Level 3 qualification in Business Coaching and Mentoring, and training in permaculture with a focus on people care, earth care, and self-care principles. These new skills have been directly applied to benefit our community through both our CIC services and related mental health support work. Our community presence has been strengthened through activities at the Cardigan Centre, where our craft sessions and informational displays increased visibility and accessibility of mental health support services. We further extended our reach through webinars focused on self-care and managing compassion fatigue, making vital support accessible to a wider audience.
Throughout the financial year 2023-2024, Craft Conscious CIC has maintained strong relationships with our stakeholders through regular engagement and collaborative initiatives. Our commitment to meaningful consultation has helped us develop and refine our services while strengthening our community connections. Our monthly participation in Aladdin meetings has been particularly valuable, allowing us to maintain consistent engagement with organisations supporting autistic people and those with learning disabilities. While not all initial contacts led to immediate collaboration, we have maintained open communication channels, recognising that relationship-building is an ongoing process. Partnerships with healthcare providers have shown promising results, particularly our collaboration with South Leeds Cluster Social Prescribers. Their distribution of our information materials led to several direct enquiries and referrals, demonstrating the effectiveness of this partnership approach. Our presence at the Cardigan Centre and engagement with the Leeds Job Centre has further expanded our reach, allowing us to share our expertise in autism, ADHD, menopause, mental health, grief, and self-care support. Our role within the Angels and Stars bereavement group has been particularly significant, where we both teach and participate as a member. This dual role has enriched our understanding of community needs while allowing us to directly contribute to grief support services. Looking ahead, several exciting initiatives are in development. We are preparing to deliver mental health workshops for women who have experienced domestic violence in Bradford, pending the success of a funding application. Additionally, we have secured an agreement with Sheffield University to provide grief support training to their research team members as part of a 5-year research programme. While our joint venture with the Highrise Project awaits successful funding, we remain committed to this partnership and continue to explore funding opportunities for collaborative suicide prevention initiatives. This persistence in pursuing meaningful partnerships, despite initial funding challenges, reflects our dedication to developing sustainable community support networks. Through these varied stakeholder relationships, we continue to adapt and expand our services based on community feedback and needs. Our approach remains flexible and responsive, ensuring we can meet both current and emerging requirements while building strong foundations for future collaborative work
