Cattells Care offers a social event on a Tuesday evening (the zone) for local adults with Learning Disabilities and their carers. The group has grown from 20 members to 60 per week including carers and there is a real sense of community. Carers have expressed how they would be lost without the Zone and that the people within supported living houses look forward to engagement with friends every week and feel it is a very safe space. It is an opportunity to be out and socialising without the risk that would be involved in going out in to town, for example. We celebrate holidays and birthdays and in the summer, re invest the funds into a free ice-cream truck, christmas presents etc. We took part in a charity fashion show and raised funds for the local community hub at Edenthorpe and raised funds for local children with Battens Disease for their wish fund.
All of our members are included in any discussions around spend of additional monies and they lead the growth and development of Cattells Care. We have weekly discussions and hold a whatsapp group for carer's to enable them to be included and to support their clients in communicating any ideas and concerns they may have,
No remuneration was received
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
