Company activities and impact

Directors Report Caravan Arts London C.I.C 2023/24 In 2023 to 2024 my C.I.C was being used for a long term community project with elders in Deptford, South East London. This involved a series of creative workshops in July/August, followed by a week long storytelling project and exhibition as part of Deptford X Festival in September. This curatorial project was part of my PhD research on art and migration at the University of Derby. The project was funded in part by a grant from Heritage Lottery Fund, through Deptford X, along with sponsorship from local businesses, funds from The Albany and Entelechy Arts, as well as self funding. Following the festival I delivered several more creative workshops, all inclusive and free of charge for the group. This was my main project in this year. This activity benefited the community by offering creative and social opportunities for older people living in the disaporas, creating platforms for them to be visible and share their stories in public space to a diverse audience. The project promoted social contact, intergenerational and intercultural exchange, connection and well-being, a sense of belonging, a bringing together of different communities and the preservation of stories of migration, particularly those of older diasporic women who are often marginalised in society.
