Over the past financial year, The Butterfly Effected CIC has continued to make a significant impact through creative and socially engaged projects. Our work has centered on using public art, film, and workshops to address social issues, encourage community pride, and provide opportunities for artists and local organisations. Key activities this year included: The Big Heart Project – Fleetwood We successfully crowdfunded and delivered the first two murals for The Big Heart Project in Fleetwood, setting the foundation for a larger initiative aimed at bringing public art and community engagement to urban spaces. These murals were created with input from local residents, fostering a sense of ownership and civic pride. Documentary Series: Darkness to Light We filmed the first episode of Darkness to Light, a documentary series that explores societal issues such as addiction and violent crime. The series uses art as a storytelling tool to amplify the voices of those affected and provide a message of hope and education to communities. The project has engaged local film producers, artists, and community members in meaningful conversations about social change. Public Murals and Community Engagement We completed six public murals across various locations, each accompanied by community engagement and workshops. These projects have transformed public spaces while encouraging local participation and pride. Locations included: - Fleetwood, UK - Liverpool, UK - Burnley, UK - Blackpool, UK - Flint, Michigan, USA - Akumal, Mexico Workshops & Skills Development Each mural was paired with community workshops, ensuring local involvement in the creative process. These workshops have empowered individuals by providing artistic and storytelling skills, as well as a platform to express their voices. Providing Opportunities We have supported artists, workshop facilitators, service providers, local film producers, community members, volunteers, and local businesses by integrating them into our projects. These opportunities have helped strengthen creative networks and provide employment and exposure for those involved.
