Company activities and impact

Project Name: Journey to Success - Empowering Young Women and Girls into employment Objective: The main objective of the project was to engage and empower young women and girls of African and Caribbean descent who are Not in Employment, Education, or Training (NEET) by providing them with opportunities, resources, and support to help them transition into meaningful employment. Target Community: Black/African/Caribbean women and girls between ages 19 to 25 who are not in employment, education or training and reside in Barking/Dagenham and Redbridge. Project Deliverables: - Workshops - Mentoring/Coaching Project Resources: - Project Staff - Training & Development Facilitators - Marketing and Promotion - Venue and Equipment Hire - Travel and Accommodation - Supplies and Materials Project Timeline: November 1, 2023 – August 30, 2024

Consultation with stakeholders

In preparation for the empowerment program aimed at participants within the community, a comprehensive recruitment strategy was implemented. To reach the target audience effectively, several methods were employed: Partnership with Work Redbridge: The council played a crucial role in connecting OJA Group with NEET individuals by providing access to their outreach programs and resources. Event: Health and social care fair hosted by the council on March 21, 2024 Venue: Redbridge Town Hall OJA Group attended this event with the aim of recruiting participants for the workshop. OJA staff had the opportunity to interact with many attendees and the workshop flyers were distributed to many. Collaboration with Barking Job Centre: The local Job centre was instrumental in the recruitment process. Staff members at these centres informed unemployed young women about the workshop during job-seeking sessions and appointments. The workshop flyer was also placed on the job boards at the centre. Advertising Campaign: Several Advertising campaigns was launched across various communities’ platforms, including social media, community bulletin boards, local shops, local churches, and local mosques. The message focused on the benefits of participation, personal development and opportunity for work placement. Distribution of flyers: Eye-catching flyers were designed and distributed in high traffic areas, such as community centre, libraries and adult education centres.
