WACIT CIC was continued its contribution to improving the mental health of vulnerable children and youth, especially those living in Global South countries and resource-constrained settings. WACIT achieves its objectives through capacity-building, various interdisciplinary training programmes, and generation of evidence (research) with various academic, community-based and statutory partners. During the last financial year, we were involved in the following projects 1.Completion of child mental health training on supporting war-affected children for psychologists in Ukraine. 2.Training of professionals and peer support workers (young mothers with lived experiences) to provide psychosocial support for pregnant and parenting adolescents in Kenya. 3.Completion of national Train-the-Trainer child mental health programme for staff and caregivers of unaccompanied minors (refugee children) living in residential settings across Greece. 4.Completion of child mental health training programme through peer educators in an intergenerational context in Pakistan. 5.Initiation of scoping (needs analysis) of mental health needs of children and youth living in disadvantage in Turkey. 6.Initiation of development of child mental health service transformation guidelines in Pakistan. 7.Dissemination of above projects and other research, as publicised on the WACIT website (www.wacit.org). Many of these articles are available on the website.
All our above-described projects involve consultation and co-production with stakeholders. In addition to our WACIT partners and youth advisory group, we regularly consult at the outset and throughout each project with 1 Young people, especially those with lived experience such as mental health needs or adolescent pregnancy and motherhood. 2 Parents and caregivers (e.g., in residential care settings). 3 Professionals providing psychosocial support, i.e. teachers, social workers, psychologists, primary care health professionals, and community workers. 4 Community and religious leaders. 5 Policy makers.
