Skillspool Training provides affordable, low cost, value added training to members of the community looking to enhance their knowledge and understanding of all aspects of personal finance, bookkeeping and budgeting. The company delivered digital literacy skills training to older members of the community that have never accessed the internet before. Unemployed members of the community that were looking to retrain were provided with accredited Skills for Workplace courses. At the end of the training, paticipants were able to access the internet and opened email accounts. They were also able to use Skype to contact family members abroad. This helped reduce their social isolation and improved their confidence and interpersonal skills. Our small class sizes has helped long term unemployed learners with little or no self confidence develop their confidence and interpersonal skills and motivated them into looking for work. A considerable number of learners that have never considered volunteering have gone on to volunteer at local community organisations.
