The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 30 June 2024

Principal activities of the company

Sewak has continued to support BAMER women and children fleeing domestic abuse. We currently provide 14 bedspaces within 3 separate projects across Berkshire. Our support provides women and families with a safe house; we liaise with domestic abuse solicitors to arrange destitute provision via the home office allowing clients to access refuge accommodation, they are then granted 3 months stay to be able to apply for benefits to support themselves, within this time frame we then refer our clients onto immigration solicitors to apply for their ILR application to the home office Refuge accommodation provides our clients with a space to heal themselves from the trauma and violence they have experienced in their relationships. We provide further support for motional grief and awareness by providing The Freedom Programme so that they can make better choices in the future. We work with the job centre to get our clients into training, this comes in the form of English classes, which is very vital for 90% of the women as this is not their first language. Maths and IT skills are too available Clients work towards living independently and are supported to budget their finances, cooking classes, how to eat healthy workshops, setting up my new home workshop, understanding my utility bills Day to day support can be in the form of just listening as they are having a bad day, to attending appointments, understand letters, advocating with professionals All clients are supported to attend home office in Croydon for their biometrics appointments. Each client is provided with a health check, registration with GP, dentist & optician
