ClimateAction.tech (CAT) creates, manages, and moderates an online space for social learning, support, and community building. During the financial year ending 30 June 2024, our activities have helped our members (1) learn about climate and digital technology and (2) use that information to advance sustainability in the tech industry. Our activities included: Managing and moderating an online community, so our members have a safe space to ask questions, learn, and exchange information. Hosting virtual networking events to enable connection and collaboration. Organizing virtual events so members can learn and explore topics more deeply with their colleagues. For example, we hosted “How to become a climate-conscious product manager?” and “Climate investing & employee action”. Facilitating peer-learning groups for members who were interested in climate justice. Support for in-person events. We provided guidance and digital assets for members who were interested in hosting local meetups. Publishing newsletters, blog posts, and wiki pages to share the current news about digital sustainability. Managing a volunteer program to help support the activities mentioned above.
The company’s stakeholders are members of our online community and people from the public who attend our programs. We use several methods of consultation to receive feedback from our stakeholders: Town halls and open meetings. These are events where we discuss plans for the community. Stakeholders have the opportunity to give feedback, ask questions, and make suggestions. For those who cannot attend, we share the recordings and meeting notes. Community surveys. These are conducted 1-2 times a year and enable us to better understand who our stakeholders are, what they are interested in, and how we can support their needs. The survey results inform our roadmap and strategy. A channel on our online platform. This channel is dedicated to community feedback. Our members bring problems to our attention as well as new ideas. We work with them to correct the issues and create new projects, as needed. Regular community participation. Organizers and moderators review community discussions on a regular basis. Based on the feedback from these consultations, we have made adjustments to our platform, programming, and moderation policies. We have also helped our members start their own projects within the community.
