Chairperson's Report |
for the Year Ended 30 June 2024 |
The Company is licenced by the Gambling Commission, under the Lotteries legislation, to administer the Goldline, Lifeline and Match-day Golden Goal Lotteries. |
This year has proved another difficult year with revenue dropping by £36,037 but savings have been made in all areas of the business which have offset the drop in sales, and net profit to BWFC has remained at the previous year's level. |
Savings have been made by: decreasing prizes - £15,025, overhead costs - £1,894, a timing difference on bank charges has reduced this year's costs by £2,880, an increase in untraceable prizes being written off - £3,550, a decrease of payments to third party beneficiaries due to their drop in sales - £10,076. Total savings on expenses £33,425. |
Goldline revenue decreased by £27,008 (9.1%) to £269,658 (2023 £296,666). |
Lifeline revenue decreased by £8,920 (3.0%) to £284,462 (2023 £293,382). |
Match-day Golden Goal decreased by £109 (0.3%) to £41,834 (2023 £41,943). |
Overall Revenue decreased by £36,037 (5.7%) to £595,954 (2023 631,991). |
Prize costs decreased £15,025 (5.5%) to £257,600 (2023 £272,625). . |
Other costs decreased by £4,774 (5.2%) to £87,289 (2023 £92,063) |
The net surplus decreased by £12,689 (4.7%) to £258,064 (2023 £270,753). |
The net donation to BWFC decreased by £2,613 (1.8%) to £143,308 (2023 £145,921) |
The net donation to third party beneficiaries decreased by £10,076 (8.1%) to £114,756 (2023 £124,832). |
During 2023/24, a number of projects were completed on behalf of BWFC, with funding totalling £235,089. |
Projects included both partial contributions and full costs of : pitch-side LED upgrade, CCTV upgrade, audio description facility, access control upgrade, hospitality east stand upgrade and training ground tactic room. |
The world of lotteries is very challenging, with competition from hundreds of charities all competing for the surplus £1 in your pocket, and from the National lottery who pay out £millions in prizes which society lotteries simply can't compete with. In addition, television draws are offering big prizes to make their draws attractive. |
Our main customers are Bolton Wanderers supporters and the challenge for 2024/25 is to try to encourage new members by offering incentives to those fans to join and support their football club, whilst keeping expenses at a minimum. |
On behalf of all the Bolton Wanderers Directors I would like to thank the lottery staff and agents for their hard work, and the members for their continued loyalty and support. |
