Company activities and impact

The mission of Greater Lincolnshire UNA C.I.C is to generate new thinking and action by those in Business, Education and Community to promote the attainment of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. In the year June 2023 to May 2024 there has been a growth in face to face activity, building on the work done on-line in previous years. The free website information and video content covering the UN 2030 SDG’s continues to be developed and used by a range of others remotely to improve their understanding of sustainable development. 19th July 2023; saw members presenting to the Lincolnshire Association of Local Councils at their summer conference. Representatives from 120 parish councils were present and took part in the workshop. 24th October 2023; a face to face and online event was arranged to invite those who have been supportive to join the team as Ambassadors. Four new volunteer ambassadors joined the team of volunteers and as a result of engagement with one Ambassador the Open College became a way of providing online educational courses. 1st November 2023; UNA GL were present and promoted our work at the Lincolnshire Wildlife Conference in Sleaford, where over 150 attendees from a wide range of organisations took part in workshops around sustainable development. 6th November 2023; UNA-GL members facilitated a renewable energy working group at Bigby Village. This draw on the expertise of local farmers, county council managers, business owners and district councillors. The outcome was the promotion of a feasibility study for new solar energy production on ex-gravel pit land. 13th November 2023; UNA-GL members engaged with staff from Lincoln University in an educational research project for the Humber Region looking at the support for students into ‘green jobs’ The research was funded by IDRIC. The concept of ‘Trojan Mice’ was introduced as a way of giving agency to individuals to challenge businesses and community leaders to take action on sustainable development. Subsequently the Welton U3A has set up a ‘Trojan Mouse‘ group and are very active in their community. They have been awarded the Trojan Mice Award from UNA-GL. 19th January 2024’ UNA-GL were invited to showcase their work at the premier of the Soil Association film ‘The top six inches’. This was held at the The Pink Pig Farm and featured the local farmer and daughter. Consultation with stakeholders

UNA-GL seeks to support individuals and organisations in business, education and community in Greater Lincolnshire. Stakeholder engagement occurs at all contracting for our presentations and workshops. We discuss how best to support them and promote sustainable development thinking and action. Following each activity we gain feedback from the organisations and we have modified our activities in light of this feedback. Our public free website and social media offers the opportunity for engagement and feedback and there is positive comment on our work and ambitions. Our Trustees and Ambassadors are linked to and employed in a range of other organisations (covering Business, Education and Community) and at our Trustee meeting the Trustees receive feedback from them on current thinking how best to engage and support new thinking and action. Over all the activities undertaken this year the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
