Radio Christmas was founded in 2008, in Amersham, Buckinghamshire as a community radio station for the Chilterns and with the purpose of helping raise funds for local charities. We are very happy to report that the local community have benefitted in the following ways: - 20 local schools were able to broadcast their school on the platform. - 30 local businesses were promoted through the station to local listeners. - 420 volunteers helped run Radio Christmas, with children as young as six years helping. - One 11-year-old volunteer was so excited by the project that he volunteered every day after school and is now looking into radio as a career. He has also built a small online radio station in his home and was awarded volunteer of the year by Amersham Council. - The station was able to raise funds for local charities and one international charity working with street kids in Guatemala and Honduras.
The company’s stakeholders are the listeners to Radio Christmas and the many volunteers who help produce the annual programmes. The station continues to be based in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, where the station was founded in December 2008. Every year we hold a series of online and in-person meetings with the stakeholders to review the station's broadcasts, gather feedback and ideas and to make plans for the following year. We take on board the positive feedback from our listeners and volunteers and have often used polls to help understand people's feelings about important matters with regards to the station's management and broadcasts.
