SHAWS has experienced remarkable growth since last year. Our activities have expanded significantly. With the cost of living at an all-time high, our low-cost sessions have become a valuable and much-appreciated resource for local communities. We have recently started working with the local refugees and asylum seekers on a Health and Wellbeing project. These efforts reflect our commitment to improving the well-being and engagement of our community. Facilitate physical activity sessions for the elderly, individuals with long-term health conditions, people from BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) communities, and those from lower socio-economic households. Provide opportunities for individuals to reduce sedentary lifestyles, alleviate isolation and improve their overall health and wellbeing. Provide culturally sensitive opportunities for people to come together and enjoy exercise. Our free to attend health events have been popular amongst communities. Our Health events are an opportunity for us engage in informal discussions with professionals on topics such as menopause, mental health, type 2 diabetes and South Asian diet, Healthy eating and benefits of active lifestyle. Main Activities and Achievements Throughout the year, SHAWS CIC remained focused on providing physical activity sessions tailored to meet the needs of diverse groups. Our activities aim to improve not only physical health but also mental and emotional wellbeing. Our efforts prioritize removing barriers such as language, cost, transport and childcare to ensure inclusivity. By tailoring activities to suit the cultural and practical needs of our audience, we ensure relevance, effectiveness and foster a sense of belonging. Beyond facilitating physical activity sessions, we also hosted six Health Events. These community get-togethers, provide a platform where individuals from diverse communities can come together, enjoy exercise, and connect with one another. This social aspect has further enhanced the community-building impact of our activities. We took this opportunity to share knowledge about healthy living to empower individuals to make informed decisions not only for themselves but also for their families Impact and Feedback The physical activity sessions and health events have significantly benefited the local community. Most participants report improvements in mobility, balance, muscle strength and general fitness. Additionally, attendees of health events have acquired valuable knowledge and skills to improve their health and wellbeing. Since the company's establishment, approximately 150 individuals have participated in our sessions, demonstrating the positive community impact of our programs. Looking Ahead We are exploring additional opportunities to expand our offerings, ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of our community. By maintaining close engagement with our communities and responding to their input, SHAWS CIC remains committed to fostering a healthier and more inclusive society. Our mission is to ensure that individuals from all communities have equal opportunities to experience and benefit from an empowered, active lifestyle.
Our stakeholders include our service users, funders, and volunteers.
