MAKROOH COLLECTIVE COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Company Number: 12352706 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 December 2024

Company activities and impact

We are a non- profit organisation that celebrates and supports British Muslim artists and artists from marginalised communities. We organise events that feature diverse and talented performers from various fields such as poetry, comedy, theatre and music. We aim to create a space where artists can express themselves freely and authentically, and where audiences can enjoy and connect with their work. Our events are always in high demand and sell out quickly, which shows the value and relevance of our platform. We also encourage audience participation through open mic segments, where anyone can share their stories and talents with the support of a live band. We have hosted events at prestigious venues such as Soho Theatre. We have also facilitated opportunities for collaboration and networking among our artists and beyond. We are passionate about showcasing and nurturing the voices of British Muslim artists and artists from marginalised communities, and we hope to continue to do so in the future.

Consultation with stakeholders

This project aims to showcase the diverse and creative talents of British Muslim artists and artists from marginalised communities. As a British Muslim with a vast history in the arts and culture sector, I am uniquely positioned to facilitate the development of this project. I have used the feedback from our artists and audiences over the years to develop a model that can provide the opportunities and profile that artists from our communities so desperately need. We have requested feedback from past events to make sure that we're on the right track and addressing the needs of our stakeholders. Our social media presence has steadily increased and always sees a boom post events when people are sharing videos and photographs from the night. Interest in future events always peak at this point. We continue dialogue with artists to make sure we can support their needs or connect them with the right people when we're not in a position to do so.
