During the financial year 1st July 2023 to 30th June 2024, SeaSure undertook a variety of sea swimming courses which benefited a number of demographics across the community. We have then repeated the course for the Teenagers being treated at the Royal Alexander Children’s hospital in the Summer of 2023 that had previously been successfully run in 2022. This was funded by Rocking Horse Charity. We have them been working with the Outside 2 Research project – which is an NHS funded research project into the benefits of cold water swimming on depression and anxiety with courses to be run in the summer of 2024 and 2025. All of these courses were offered free of charge to the participants & enabled the participants to enjoy the physical and mental well being advantages of being in the sea, for free and under the guidance of qualified instructors and lifeguards.
Stakeholders consulted – our stakeholders are charities/not for profits and communities in the local Brighton and East Sussex area, where their clients or participants would benefit from receiving free sessions which would allow them to safely access to the sea that they wouldn’t otherwise receive. We have developed a relationship with the new outdoor swimming pool provider, Sea Lanes who are keen to support SeaSure with courses moving forward. Consultations included the, Royal Alexander Hospital, University Sussex Hospital and working closes with the NHS funded Outside 2 Research Group. Following these consultations, the course programmes were devised to best suit the demographic and the various needs associated with them. Following each of the programmes, we have requested feedback from the participants in order to make any necessary amendments for the courses run in the future
