Liscard Community Links CIC has benefitted our community; by delivering social action projects, environmental improvements and provided support for the local community and families. The directors, as volunteers have invested time to deliver projects, organise activities, and community gardening and planting along running a community choir and a circular economy recycling project from donations of clothes. We know from our community engagement and consultation, that there is an increasing need for people to feel connected with their community, people feel socially isolated, they are living in cold houses, experiencing high levels of poverty, experiencing mental health and wellbeing issues along with needing to find out key information to support with return to employment, help with benefits and housing issues. We have focused on providing a warm, friendly, safe space for people, where everyone is made to feel welcome and have provided projects that support and connect people. We have completed surveys with residents to find out what activities they would like to see and what is important to them. Some of the activities we have delivered over the duration of the financial year. Warm space, refreshments, time to talk, creative writing, volunteers’ activities, digital inclusion, IT and computer skills, drop in, advice and guidance, wellbeing, sessions, arts and creative activities, local history, clothes recycling, town planting and food growing activities. We have supported older people in the community with drop in community events and provision of winter warm packs through Household support funding. We were the lead organisation supporting a collaborative creative project working with young people in the area to deliver cultural activities, working with local cultural organisations. We value our team of community volunteers, who support projects throughout the year to help maintain baskets, plant and undertake watering. We also have volunteers who support people with wellbeing sessions, volunteers who help with the clothes donations and sorting out clothes and administration. We have made a difference; we received positive feedback from attendees and beneficiaries of the project. Also indirectly, we hear many comments from people who appreciate our work in the community and gardening projects. We received RBS Level 5 ‘Outstanding’ to acknowledge our community offer and support. We work with other organisations in our area, including local police, youth hub, health, creatives and our local council. We are stakeholders and Board members of the Liscard Together Partnership. We attend meetings and have contributed to developing our local Action Plan. We know that the impact of advice and support has helped beneficiaries to increase their income, through benefit checks and support, supported independence and empowering people to make changes. Social engagement has made a difference to wellbeing, especially for the those in the community who are feeling socially isolated, it highlights the impact and importance of developing new friendships. Supporting individuals during difficult periods makes a difference, we receive feedback from individuals who tell us what difference it made to their lives. Our knowledge of services and organisations that can provide help and support, means that we are able to sign post people to get the right support can alleviated further distress and crisis. We work with local schools and our local youth work provider, they have shared feedback of the impact of projects, and particularly the household support, this project really helped local families. This project took place as we had a warm hub to operate from and resources to support the projects. We were able to support local families with bedding, school uniform for children, toiletries, warm blankets etc. We are looking forward to our next projects, regenerating people and the place with live in.
