GLOBAL OSTEOPOROSIS FOUNDATION (REGISTERED NUMBER: 10239445)

REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES

for the year ended 30th June 2024

The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 30th June 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objectives and aims

Global Osteoporosis Foundation's objective is to render Osteoporosis a prevented disease globally by 2040. To do this we aim to improve education and understanding of the importance of bone health to everyone by working with educational establishments, governments, national health providers and interested businesses to introduce cost effective screening programmes that can identify and treat sufferers, or potential sufferers, earlier. By doing this we will reduce the huge personal impact to individuals, their families as well as the wider financial burden of caring for and supporting sufferers in the medium and longer term.

The Foundation has advanced its objectives in the year both in terms of refining content that can be distributed to interested parties and preparing a suitable website to demonstrate more fully the activities of the Foundation.
In the coming period these activities will be further developed and formally launched following beta testing, which has been going on in the background throughout the last period, principally through the generosity of Google. Sponsors will be also sought now to promote the objectives with purpose and alacrity. This will allow the recruitment of suitably trained staff and limited overheads to be incurred and expensed.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

Governing document

The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust, and constitutes a limited company, limited by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006.
