We Achievers have had a highly impactful year, collaborating with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Public Health Team to address critical public health needs, including Covid 19 and Measles, Mumps, and Rubella MMR vaccination efforts. Through this strategic partnership, we conducted a series of successful pop up events focused on raising awareness about the importance of childhood immunisations, directly benefiting over 2,000 local families. Our efforts included recruiting and training 15 community Volunteer Health Ambassadors, who played a crucial role in providing on-the-ground support at these MMR pop up events. These ambassadors, trained by health professionals, facilitated discussions within the community to promote immunisation and provide valuable health information to families. Their engagement was integral to the success of these events, ensuring that families received the guidance and resources necessary to make informed health decisions. In addition to health-focused services, we incorporated a variety of fun and engaging activities for children and families during the pop-up events, making them more accessible and enjoyable. These included Health Ambassadors engaging with families Face Painting Arts and Crafts Refreshments Bouncy Castle Lunch provided for clinical staff Henna Art Board Games Alongside the pop-up events, We Achievers organised several community initiatives throughout the year that further contributed to the well-being and social inclusion of local residents Cambridge Trip, Organised a family trip for 80 families to visit the city of Cambridge. Xmas Event, A celebration for 40 families during the holiday season. Xmas Dinner, Hosted a special dinner for 20 older individuals to combat social isolation. Halloween Event, A fun-filled gathering for 30 attendees. Weekly Lunch Club, Ongoing support with a weekly lunch club, serving 20 people. Weekly Exercise Club, Providing health and fitness activities for 30 people. Eid Event, A celebration for 250 families. Diwali Event, A community gathering for 200 attendees. Through these activities, we were able to foster a sense of community, provide social support, and ensure that essential health services were accessible to those who needed them most. The year has been a successful one, with We Achievers continuing to support the health, social well being, and inclusion of local residents, particularly through our MMR pop-up events and various other community outreach programs. We are proud of the positive impact our services have had on the local community and look forward to continuing these efforts in the future.
We Achievers have been dedicated to addressing the needs of the local community throughout the year, with a particular focus on promoting health and well being. One area we identified as needing more attention was the engagement of older people, who were underrepresented in the uptake of our services. To address this, we held a consultation with older individuals to better understand their needs and concerns. The feedback revealed that many older people were struggling with social isolation, living alone, and feeling disconnected from opportunities to participate in activities or trips. Taking this feedback seriously, we organised a special trip to Cambridge for 80 older people, providing them with a chance to connect with others and enjoy a day out. The trip was a tremendous success, and the feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed their gratitude, sharing that this was one of the first opportunities they had had in a long time to get out and experience something new. The response was so enthusiastic that the key question from participants was, "When is the next trip?" This experience highlighted the significant impact that providing opportunities for older individuals to socialise, travel, and engage in new experiences can have on their well-being. It reinforced the importance of listening to the needs of the community and adapting our services to meet those needs. Moving forward, we are committed to continuing to support older people in our community and ensuring they have access to meaningful activities that improve their quality of life. In addition to the Cambridge trip, we have continued to provide various other services, including health pop-up events, social gatherings, and well-being programs, which have benefited hundreds of families and individuals throughout the year. Through these efforts, we have made a significant difference in the lives of those we serve, helping to combat social isolation and improve community health.
