HUMAN CAMERA CIC

Year Ending: 30 June 2024

Company activities and impact

Human Camera runs creative photography workshops, primarily (although not exclusively) aimed at giving a voice to disadvantaged groups. These workshops provide an accessible way for people to communicate, teaching participants about visual literacy - how to interpret and communicate using images- and thus how to express themselves in a creative manner. Participants then use this knowledge along with their learned photographic skills to creatively tell their story or communicate a message using images, often engaging with the wider community through an exhibition or publication of their work. HumanCamera also uses the knowledge and experience of visual literacy to consult on corporate identity management projects for businesses, particularly in areas of corporate social responsibility. During 2023/2024, HumanCamera activities continued to provide both online and physical exhibitions, while continuing with training/workshops to explore the impact of photography as an engagement tool. HumanCamera also continued our outreach in providing businesses with an ethical framework in the use of images for areas of identity expression. HumanCamera also continued to bring its expertise in visual literacy into the field of corporate identity management for businesses, acting as outsourced photography, branding and consultancy for a public relations agency.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company's primary stakeholders are local, national and international funding agencies, disadvantaged residents of the UK, workshop participants. and other artists working within the UK and abroad. All workshops and exhibitions are designed to meet the requirements of the specific group to be represented during the event. All participants were consulted about their experience through appraisal feedback.
