OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES |
Objectives and aims |
Our Mission |
Stamp Out Suicide (SOS) provides a free, confidential telephone counselling service to individuals across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales who are experiencing suicidal thoughts. Additionally, SOS works to raise awareness of suicide prevention within communities across the UK. |
Our Work |
We offer suicide prevention training to individuals from diverse backgrounds. Our belief is that by equipping more people with the knowledge and skills to intervene, we can help reduce the suicide rate across the country. |
Our Services |
SOS provides professional, confidential counselling via phone to those struggling with suicidal thoughts. Individuals can reach out via text, and a fully qualified counsellor will return their call, providing support for as long as necessary. |
While the charity is based in Warrington, our counsellors operate remotely from various locations across the UK. |
Public benefit |
In reviewing our goals and planning for the future, we have adhered to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. The trustees carefully assess how each of our activities contributes to our mission and objectives. |
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE |
Progress Since 2019 |
Since 2019, we have successfully trained over 150 individuals in suicide prevention and remain committed to expanding our training initiatives in the years to come. |
Key Activities in 2024-2025 |
Over the past year, we conducted training courses on the Isle of Man, in Warrington, and online, equipping participants with suicide prevention skills. Additionally, we staged a play about suicide awareness in Liverpool, Manchester, and Warrington and London. This theatrical production aimed to foster open discussions about suicide, encourage individuals to seek help, and raise funds for our charity |
FINANCIAL REVIEW |
Reserves policy |
Our financial strategy ensures that the charity maintains sufficient funds to cover operational expenses at all times, providing financial stability and continuity of service. |
FUTURE PLANS |
Looking ahead, we plan to continue fundraising through various events. We also aim to extend the tour of our play in late 2025, further promoting awareness about suicide and how communities can actively contribute to reducing suicide rates in the UK. |
The charity has gained significant support from new donors and volunteers, and we are committed to building on this momentum throughout 2024 and beyond. |
