During the financial year, the Chinese International Students Well-being Centre (CISC), a non-profit organisation based in London, continued to expand its efforts to support the mental health and personal development of Chinese international students across the UK. Our activities have benefited the community in several key ways. We strengthened our collaborations with UK universities, including four new partner institutions this year. These partnerships, alongside our ongoing relationships with universities such as UCL and UAL, have allowed us to provide timely and effective external support to students, particularly those navigating cultural, academic, and emotional challenges while studying abroad. Over the past year, we delivered more than 100 one-to-one therapy sessions, offering tailored psychological support to students experiencing issues ranging from academic stress to personal loss and emotional distress. In addition, we worked with NHS professionals on selected cases, facilitating referrals when students required more specialised or long-term care, thereby ensuring continuity and a higher level of support. We were also invited to give several talks and workshops for students at UAL and UCL, where we spoke directly to student audiences about mental health awareness, emotional resilience, and strategies for adapting to life in a new country. These events not only provided valuable guidance but also helped to reduce the stigma around seeking help. Through these combined efforts, CISC has played a meaningful role in fostering a healthier, more connected student community, supporting hundreds of individuals in building the confidence and emotional resources necessary to thrive during their time in the UK.
