Year Ending: 31 August 2024

Company activities and impact

During the financial year 2023-2024, Turning Tides’ activities have benefited the community in the following ways: In March 2024 we hosted an event, attended by about 35 local people, for International Women’s Day with a panel of women from a range of local community groups. We celebrated the great work happening in our city and offered a platform to local performers. We promoted local businesses through our raffle prize and venue, and raised funds for Turning Tides and the other groups involved. In June 2024 we hosted a community networking event, where we welcomed members of the local community to share climate and social justice projects they had been involved in. It was attended by around 30 people. In June 2024, we attended a fair organised by a local neighbourhood forum and held an educational stall where people could learn about the impacts of climate change. Throughout the financial year we promoted climate and social justice focussed events happening in Portsmouth via our website, mailing list and social media pages.

Consultation with stakeholders

Turning Tides’ stakeholders are residents and visitors of Portsmouth and the surrounding areas. We regularly collect responses on short questionnaires about people’s concerns about climate change and what they would like to see from our company. We use the feedback we get to inform our decisions such as which events we should host next and how to make our events more inclusive. For example, following the event for International Women's Day in March, through our feedback form, the most popular request for a follow up event was a networking event, which is what we chose as our next event.
