2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Basis of preparing the financial statements |
Investments in subsidiaries |
Investments in subsidiary undertakings are recognised at cost. |
Investment property |
Investment property is initially recorded at cost, which includes purchase price and any directly attributable expenditure. |
Investment property is revalued to its fair value at each reporting date and any changes in fair value are recognised in profit or loss. |
Financial instruments |
A financial asset or a financial liability is recognised only when the company becomes a party to the contractual provisions of the instrument. |
Basic financial instruments are initially recognised at the transaction price, unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where it is recognised at the present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest for a similar debt instrument. |
Debt instruments are subsequently measured at amortised cost. |
Financial assets that are measured at cost or amortised cost are reviewed for objective evidence of impairment at the end of each reporting date. If there is objective evidence of impairment, an impairment loss is recognised in profit and loss immediately. |
For all equity instruments regardless of significance, and other financial assets that are individually significant, these are assessed individually or grouped on the basis of similar risk characteristics. |
Any reversals of impairments are recognised in profit or loss immediately, to the extent that the reversal does not result in a carrying amount of the financial asset that exceeds what the carrying amount would have been had the impairment not previously been recognised. |
Taxation |
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. |
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted. |
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date. |
Deferred tax |
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date. |
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference. |
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits. |

2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES - continued |
Going concern |
The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis. The director has assessed the Company's ability to continue as a going concern and has reasonable expectation that the company has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus he continues to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing these financial statements. |
Debtors |
Trade and other debtors are recognised at the settlement amount due after any discount offered. Prepayments are valued at the amount prepaid after taking account of any discounts due. |
Cash at bank and in hand |
Cash at bank and cash in hand includes cash and short term highly liquid investments with a short maturity of three months or less from the date of acquisition or opening of the deposit or similar account. |
Creditors |
Creditors and provisions are recognised where the company has a present obligation resulting from a past event that will probably result in the transfer of funds to a third party and the amount due to settle the obligation can be measured or estimated reliably. Creditors and provisions are normally recognised at their settlement amount after allowing for any discounts due. |
Consolidation |
The company has taken advantage of the option not to prepare consolidated financial statements contained in Section 399 of the Companies Act 2006 on the basis that the company and its subsidiary undertaking comprise a small group. |
