COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

PHOENIX HEROES CIC

Company Number: 11479548 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 July 2024

Company activities and impact

This report reflects our achievements, milestones reached, and the difficulties encountered during our sixth year. During this financial year we focused on our growth plans to allow us to reach out to more veterans and their families. Our base camp build remains our main project and we are now in the final stages of lease agreement prior to securing funding to start the build. Our fundraising activities have increased and our community has grown considerably throughout this period. Funds have supported all our service support areas with an increase in welfare support. Investments have been made to purchase more event base camps and equipment to support our main community engagement events. Through kind sponsorship we have also invested in the conversion of our catering trailer that will help us feed our community on our events around the UK. One of our biggest challenges remains securing grants and fundraising to help with our growth plans. Our Veteran Carp Angling Community (VCAC) has grown at fast pace and we now have most regions in England covered by our volunteer area captains and coordinators. To date under our Tackle 4 Heroes project, we have received fishing tackle donations from the public and businesses around the UK with a retail value of £300k. This allowed us to gift free fishing tackle to many of our beneficiaries and their families to allow them to join us on our fishing events. In total we held 44 events and brought hundreds of people together throughout 2023 – 2024. We are now receiving referrals from many of the mainstream Charities and other veteran support organisations. To date, as a community we have helped hundreds of people across the spectrum of our support services, some of which have saved lives. Securing funding bids to support our veteran build remains one of our focus areas and we have plans to expand this build concept on a smaller scale around the UK to create more safe spaces for our community to come together. A big thank you to everyone for their support to us and a special thank you to our veteran community for their incredible commitment, we have some large-scale projects planned and this is a result of those who are helping us.
