In its first year, BRILLIANT BAMBOO CIC has been working hard to develop the company, vision, and values and to develop our network for projects for our community. We created our brand and website with support from local companies and the VCSO organisation for the area VAST. The website was funded through a bursary: www.brilliantbamboo.co.uk. We had some small success in achieving grant funding from two funders, and support from our community through our crowdfunded. We have also been supported through the local growth hub with business mentoring. We delivered workshops with a partner in June 2023, this saw 160 young people over a day get hands on with bamboo as part of an event with a sustainability focus. We launched our new podcast connecting our community here in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffs to national and international networks of people: Booming Brilliant. We were able to spend time writing funding and grant applications for our work in the future, which has come to some success for the following year where through our action research approach will be able to make a real impact for our community.
