The Foundation has continued to grow and provide support for the global leather industry (our community) during the financial year 2023/24. There are now approximately 97 partners from 28 different countries and we have 79 published transparency dashboards that demonstrate the Environmental, Social and Governance performance capabilities of facilities operating along the leather value chain. Our staffing levels remain the same - with just 3 permanent employees, with 7 contracted auditors geographically spread to conduct audits of facilities. The Foundation has increased its work with intergovernmental organisations and country associations to support in areas such as EUDR and CSRD. The Managing Director sits on the European Commission's Deforestation Platform, and is also the leather expert for the UNECE. Additionally, in this financial year, our Managing Director was appointed as the Vice President of the Society of Leather Technologists and Chemists. Speaking engagements and training workshops have been delivered in the UK, Tanzania, China, Bangladesh, Italy, France, America and India. All designed to help tanneries and associated facilities to reduce their environmental impacts, increase their positive social impact and demonstrate robust ethical business practice with strong governance.
No consultation with stakeholders
The total amount paid to the managing director was £63,500 for salary in the year 2023/24. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
