Consultations have taken place, however, no funding or financial activity has taken place
ngagement Process: Our consultation with the cricket club began through informal conversations at community events, which led to a series of structured meetings and planning sessions. We held joint discussions with club leaders, volunteers, and parents involved in local junior teams. These conversations provided valuable insights into both the challenges and opportunities around youth engagement in sport, particularly during school holidays. Key Outcomes: Holiday Clubs – One of the primary outcomes of our collaboration has been the development of inclusive, accessible holiday clubs hosted at the cricket ground. These clubs run during school breaks and offer children from all backgrounds the opportunity to engage in structured sports, physical activity, and social play in a safe, welcoming environment. The cricket club provides the venue and some coaching staff, while The Millers Partnership secures funding and coordinates delivery. Support with Core Costs for Free Sport Access – Through this partnership, we have also secured funding to contribute toward the club’s core operational costs, which has enabled them to remove barriers to participation. This means sessions can be offered free of charge to families who might otherwise be excluded due to financial constraints. This has significantly increased local youth engagement, particularly from low-income households. Stronger Community Links – The partnership has strengthened community ties, boosted volunteering opportunities, and enhanced the visibility of the cricket club as a hub for positive activity. Feedback from parents and young people has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for both the affordability and quality of the holiday provision.
