Directors' report period ended 30 April 2024

The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 30 April 2024

Principal activities of the company

The company's aim is to create a space for socialisation and integration and reduce loneliness and isolation amongst asylum seekers and refugees. Through the weekly drop-in the company runs, we have been able to achieve that and also encourage integration with locals in the community. The weekly drop-in sees attendance of over 120 people including families with children. The company runs a weekly Friday drop-in service that provides support for asylum seekers, refugees and anyone in need. This social gathering helps reduce loneliness and isolation amongst refugees and asylum seekers. During the 2024-2025 financial year. The company has supported over 400 families and individuals with essential support, advice and signposting and bringing services to the families we support through our partnership work with local health team and local authorities. Every Friday from 3.30pm to 6.30pm hot culturally diverse food is provided to 120 to 150 people including families who access the drop-in. Food brings people together. Parents get their children from school and attend the drop-in where they eat hot food and get much needed essential support. Cultural music is also very much part of the drop-in service. Attendees would choose music from their home countries and they would demonstrate to the group the cultural dance and interested attendees would take part, making the atmosphere lively and fun. The company gets fresh fruits and vegetable donation from other local charities who have been supporting us. This donation is then placed in bags and given to each attendees especially families with children. Members of the public and individuals from other charities would visit the drop-in with donated items such as clothes and household items which are always needed. The company has 9 committed and dedicated volunteers including the project lead. All volunteers represent different communities. This helps with attendees who are unable to communicate in English. Our volunteers help with interpretation. The company works with partnership with local charities and service providers. This helps us signposting individuals and families to other service they need. The company has no paid staff. Over 70 households are supported every week.
