Castles In The Sky Projects presents and produces events and projects that primarily platform and celebrate LGBTQ+ artists and communities in a way that is accessible, fun and social. This includes cabaret events, film screenings, workshops, meals and performances as well as providing space and equipment for the community to use to host their own events and workshops in a supported way. From July 2023-July 2024 this included- OUT In The Sticks: We launched and ran the UK’s first drag king residential with support from Bradford Council in rural Bradford. At a site in Ilkley were brought together 10 of the UK’s most exciting drag king artists for a week of artistic development and community building to share skills and experiment with making new work in a fun, safe and inclusive environment. Bradford Queer Film Festival : November 2023 saw the first ever Bradford Queer Film Festival take place in traditional and unusual cinema spaces across the city bringing together LGBTQ+ people of all ages and our allies to watch the best in international LGBTQ+ on screen storytelling. This project received funding from Bradford Council as well as Film Hub North which allowed us to ensure the events were accessible, affordable and reached a wide range of audiences. We worked with partners including Kala Sangam, The Light Cinema and Fuse Art Space to bring this to life. OUT OUT: We delivered 5 OUT OUT drag king cabaret events which provided a social space affirming LGBTQ+ identities and bringing together the community to celebrate and enjoy this work in a fun, safe and inclusive environment. These events remained popular throughout the year and served as essential places for LGBTQ+ people to come together. Right Queer Right Now: In collaboration with Marlborough Productions and Theatre In The Mill we worked with another programmer to deliver the second ever Right Queer Right Now Festival bringing together socials, performances and workshops across 2 weekends centering LGBTQ+ artists and audiences. This included performances from more than 20 artists and the takeover of Theatre In The Mill for people to make new friends, see exciting and affirming artwork and feel more connected to their community. In addition we have provided a space and access to equipment, skills and advice for LGBTQ+ people to arrange their own events and projects and find ways to come together and make vital space.
Our stakeholders are our community members and the users and participants of our events and projects. We take their needs, ideas and consultancy very seriously and invite constant feedback and interaction. We engage in this consultation in various ways including; regular meetings with our partner organisations with whom we wish to maintain positive and productive relationships; post event specific feedback and evaluation forms; social media dialogue including asking questions directly about what matters to our community and how we can best serve these needs. Feedback allows us to constantly reflect on our projects and ensure our programme is matching our mission to serve our community and work in their best interests. We continue building ways for people to speak with us directly including through in person events and drop ins and through newsletters.
During the year, remuneration of £2,800.00 paid to the director of the company.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
