OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

To encourage those in crisis pregnancy situations to access support services in order to think through all the options and make an informed decision rather than one based on fear or panic, in an environment where they feel cared for, accepted and supported.
To encourage those with post abortion difficulties to access support services in order to find caring, ongoing support and the opportunity for recovery.
To provide access to care and support following any baby loss including miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, still birth and neonatal death.
To provide access to pre and post adoption advice and support for birth mothers.
To provide access to advice and practical support for those who choose to parent following the discovery of an unplanned pregnancy.
To provide a respectful and compassionate service to all who ask for assistance, recognising the value of each individual without discrimination on grounds of illness, disability, race, colour, sexual orientation, gender, age or religion.
To be involved in the education of young people by giving presentations to schools and youth groups, thereby encouraging them to think ahead and make healthy choices with regard to their sexual behaviour.
To ensure delivery of a service that maintains a standard of high quality by monitoring client evaluation and ensuring volunteers keep up to date with regular training opportunities and supervision.
To build and maintain links with other agencies by means of attending networking opportunities and training days.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable activities
WIPCS furthered its objectives in the year to November 2024 through the following:
Clients
5 clients made 46 contacts including 28 phone calls, and 18 face-to-face appointments.
Clients: 1 post abortion support, 2 unintended pregnancy; one ongoing pregnancy support, 1 neonatal trauma support, 1 miscarriage (bereavement) support.
Fundraising
We had a stall at the Lochs Show in July with kiddies' games, prizes and information leaflets to raise awareness.
Training
1 x 1 hour training and skills practice session took place with 4 practitioners over Zoom in March.
The co-ordinator attended a cyber fraud training session in the Caladh Inn (2.5 hrs) in April.
Networking/ Raising Awareness
Along with our youth worker, the coordinator was invited to a useful meeting with staff at Action For Children (AFC) in order to gain a deeper mutual understanding of both services and strengthen links between the two organisations.
A presentation was given in March to the "Cuppa n Ceilidh" HFC Group who meet regularly in the Newton Community Centre. This was attended by both men and women, who asked pertinent questions and engaged in an interesting discussion regarding the various aspects of our service.
The WFM group in Point requested a presentation in April. Attended by approximately 12 women, we were most grateful for their continued support and generous contribution to our funds.
Once again, we were invited to hold an information stall at the annual Ness "Flourish" women's conference in May, attended by around 90 women from various backgrounds and ages.
We continue to gift bags of kindness to the Maternity Unit at WIH for those suffering bereavement through any type of pregnancy loss.
A planning meeting was held between committee members and Karen Mackay, Graphic Design to discuss ideas for the charity's re-brand. It is hoped that a new name, website, logo and marketing materials will ignite fresh interest and attract more clients.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Reserves policy
The average cost of running WIPCS does not tend to exceed £50 per month. The trustees are of the opinion that the current level of reserves is adequate to cover these costs and to enable the charity to develop its work further.
The charity is grateful for the ongoing provision of premises for client appointments which is free-of-charge.
FUTURE PLANS
Through regular training and evaluation ensure the WIPCS aims and objectives are being met, and that an effective service of high standard is available to anyone facing any kind of pregnancy related distress in the Western Isles.
Continue to raise awareness of WIPCS locally.
Develop opportunities for involvement in the education of young people through schools, college and youth groups.
Develop and maintain links with other relevant agencies, for the benefit of clients.

STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES' RESPONSIBILITIES
The trustees (who are also the directors of Western Isles Pregnancy Crisis Support for the purposes of company law) are responsible for preparing the Report of the Trustees and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
Company law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charitable company and of the incoming resources and application of resources, including the income and expenditure, of the charitable company for that period. In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required to
| - | select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; |
| - | observe the methods and principles in the Charity SORP; |
| - | make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; |
| - | prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charitable company will continue in business. |
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charitable company and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charitable company and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

Report of the Trustees
for the Year Ended 30 November 2024
This report has been prepared in accordance with the special provisions of Part 15 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.
Approved by order of the board of trustees on
Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of
Western Isles Pregnancy Crisis Support
I report on the accounts for the year ended 30 November 2024 set out on pages seven to thirteen.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity's trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1)(a) to (c) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under Section 44(1)(c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of the independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention :
| (1) | which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements |
| - | to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1)(a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations; and |
| - | to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with Regulation 8 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations |
have not been met; or
| (2) | to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. |
