Hampshire Barbell Club supports children and young people and adults to achieve their full potential. The Club focuses on activities promoting wellbeing, teamwork and citizenship using the medium of Olympic Weightlifting. Weightlifting sessions, after school weightlifting clubs and learn to lift courses are offered to young people to increase engagement in the sport. In addition we run learn to lift courses for women, girls and adults to encourage these groups to learn skills such as balance and stability, to increase strength and improve mobility.
We consult with our main stakeholder Portchester Community School on a regular basis to ensure we are meeting the needs of the school. We also consulted with EnergiseMe during the delivery of funded sessions to ensure we met their requirements in terms of opening up opportunities to women, girls and the wider community. We recently sent out a questionnaire in order to receive feedback regarding all aspects of the club and proposals for improvement. We regularly tag our sponsors in social media posts to enable them to see the results of their funding of our youth weightlifting cohort, in particular results from British and English Age Group Championships. Stakeholders include local businesses, British Weightlifting and The Weightlifting Federation.
