COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

BULLERENGUE CIRCLE CIC

Company Number: 14028826 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 April 2024

Company activities and impact

During this term, thanks to the support from various grants, we have been able to facilitate free learning spaces in Harringay where participants can experience and learn about bullerengue in order to connect with their creative selves, understand their inner rhythm, regulate their stress levels, and build confidence and self-awareness. We have facilitated dance workshops, drumming workshops, participative performances and therapeutic sessions for children, teenagers, adults and neurodiverse adults from underrepresented groups, partnering with breathwork experts and sound therapists. Additionally, we have developed and promoted cultural events where members of the community can meet, experience and learn about music. We participated in a learning programme at HKW in Berlin, Germany, to plant the seeds of bullerengue and community healing, replicating in this city the London experience. We also self-organised a tour across seven cities in Europe and the UK with bullerengue experts from Colombia, conducting panel discussions, workshops and performances in order to continue to expand the reach of our company and share the healing power of bullerengue with a wider community.

Consultation with stakeholders

Beneficiaries: Our beneficiaries include adults, teenagers, children and neurodiverse individuals who participate in our programmes. We gather immediate feedback through end-of-session sharing circles, which allows us to make adjustments for future sessions and the general direction of programmes based on their input. In the case of our children group, we kept ongoing communication with their parents to follow their children's development and understand their particular needs. We witnessed how the majority of parents also benefited from this space as they became friends and started sharing and creating a supportive community. Musicians: We work with six adult musicians, holding monthly check-ins and biannual one-to-ones to ensure their needs are met. These sessions provide a space for musicians to voice their thoughts, share challenges and suggest improvements. Feedback from these sessions has led to changes in rehearsal schedules, additional sessions, team bonding activities and resources for their development. Guest Speakers and Facilitators: We engage a variety of guest speakers and facilitators to help deliver specialised sessions and workshops. Before each session, we hold collaborative planning meetings to ensure that everyone is aligned and prepared. Afterward, we conduct feedback sessions with the guest speakers and facilitators to gather insights into what worked well and areas for improvement. Based on this feedback, we continuously refine our planning process, enhance session content and ensure that both our internal team and external contributors have the necessary support to deliver high-quality experiences.
