COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

VISTA WELLBEING C.I.C.

Company Number: 10905064 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 July 2024

Company activities and impact

During this financial period, we were able to provide individually tailored specialist exercise sessions to an average of 34 people each week, through our core programme of pay-as-you-go exercise classes. This may seem a small number but reflects the complex nature of the people we work with, which requires small groups and high level of expertise. We will continue to work to increase our reach as we recover from the impact of the pandemic on our client demographic. Our free to access activities and commissioned work are not included in this figure. A significant event during this financial period was our first major piece of NHS-commissioned work. Vista Wellbeing was chosen, in partnership with One Northern Devon, to deliver the Steady on Your Feet programme. This programme follows the FaME methodology and is evidence based for falls prevention. This valuable programme, free to the end user, comprises 24 weeks of training to support those at risk of falls. The programme was fully subscribed across Barnstaple, Braunton, Bideford, South Molton, Torrington, Holsworthy and Ilfracombe. It produced statistically verified and positive results across all participant cohorts, and Vista Wellbeing was able to also provide valuable social activities linked to this project. During this financial period Vista Wellbeing contributed to CIMSPA’s Local Skills Plan for Devon. This involved being part of the Local Skills Accountability Board (LSAB) and assisting in the formulation of an appropriate plan to address skills gaps in the region. This has direct relevance to Vista Wellbeing as part of our activities (through Vista Education) includes providing education and training opportunities for the sector. Although not directly linked to our LSAB work, we did engage with a local gym to provide a range of instructor courses. Vista Education was also actively involved in training our volunteer interns, either informally or via regulated qualifications. In March 2024 we were delighted to take part in the Community Headspace programme which allowed us to reflect on Vista Wellbeing’s mental health and wellbeing provision for our volunteers. We undertook several valuable sessions with the training facilitator, and this resulted in some meaningful changes to our volunteer induction and support processes. We continued to work closely with North Devon Voluntary Services and were active members of their Leadership Hub and Managing and Supporting Volunteers Group. Both these groups allowed us to recruit and support our volunteers more effectively, provided us with access to training opportunities and, through the Leadership Hub, there were many opportunities to share good practice and to learn from other voluntary sector organisations. In July 2024 one of our Directors and Instructors began training to become a Level 4 Cancer Rehabilitation Coach. This reflects our aspiration to provide a growing team of skilled and appropriately qualified instructors to support our growing client base. One of our Directors provided presentations to arrange of professional and community groups regarding the benefits of physical activity. These are provided free of charge on request and are an example of our commitment to ensure that everyone has access to information and guidance regarding becoming more active, therefore increasing confidence and self-efficacy. This year, presentations were provided at the NHS Cancer Link Study Day, to Headway North Devon, Northern Devon Upper GI Cancer Support Group and North Devon Diabetes Support Group amongst others. We supported FORCE Cancer Charity, providing maternity cover for their Cancer Rehabilitation Instructor, through online classes and continue to receive referrals from them into our service. We continue to provide phase 4 Cardiac Rehabilitation through strong links with our local NHS Cardiac Support Services. We would like to thank Barnstaple Town Council for their support through the small grants scheme, North Devon Council for a grant from the Keeping North Devon Connected fund. These grants have enabled us to avoid increasing the cost of our core sessions to users, and to continue to be able to provide our free to access services, such as our social hubs and wellbeing walks.

Consultation with stakeholders

We prioritise building strong relationships with our clients, partners, employees, and the wider community by listening to their needs, incorporating feedback, and fostering mutual trust. We have actively engaged with stakeholders through regular communication and collaboration. We have been actively involved in several community forums such as the North Devon Older Adult Network, Northern Devon Mental Health Network, One Barnstaple, Healthy Ageing North Devon and others. We have been regular attendees at the Barnstaple Community Cafe, providing an opportunity for the wider community to express their opinions on our services, and engage in our activities where appropriate. Our wellbeing hubs allow for clients and other stakeholders to express their views and suggest ideas in an informal way on an ongoing basis. All voices are important and play an integral part in the shaping of our work.
