Principal activities of the company

The company's principal activity during the year continued to be to help and promote a traditional art form and to facilitate adults' skills, learning and welfare through: The promotion of the traditional band normally associated with the Boys' and Girls' Brigades throughout the UK and thereby provide a national knowledge and skills base to advance the education of adults in the learning and performing of marching band music by establishing and maintaining a marching band, to provide support, teaching and training to other adults to help them develop and improve their musical skills so that this can be used to enable such traditional bands to perform and to advance the general fitness and physical welfare of adults by promoting and encouraging membership of a marching band where a certain level of fitness and general wellbeing is required. To provide recreational activities and social events associated with a marching band by encouraging members to partake in band events and band tours across the UK and overseas.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes.

    Other accounting policies

    Stocks ae measured at the lower of cost and estimated selling price. Creditors are measured at the transaction price. Taxation - the company is a not for profit company limited by guarantee and is therefore not liable to corporation tax other than on investment income.
