Year Ending: 31 August 2024

Company activities and impact

The Binfield 10k CIC plans & puts on a 10k race in and around the village of Binfield once a year in May. The Binfield 10k committee co-ordinates a number of local organisations to put this event on & works with other local run committees to share equipment & agree dates to avoid clashes. In 2024 we attracted 900 entrants to join the event & were able to raise in excess of £10k that was distributed to local charities & organisations who helped in the run up to & on the day itself. Since inception, the Binfield 10k CIC has distributed £70k of which £50k has been given directly to our community through local organisations. The race showcases the village of Binfield, brings together the community & many of its local charitable & youth groups. It also helps promote health & fitness in the community.

Consultation with stakeholders

As a committee we actively work with more than 8 other local community groups. We also work closely with Binfield Parish Council, who allow us to use Parish owned land for the start & end of the race & sponsor the medals. We also seek sponsorship from local businesses to help cover the costs of staging the event & encourage those sponsors to get involved ahead of the race & on the day itself. We publish information regarding the event in the 5 months leading up to the event in a local community magazine distributed within the village We communicate extensively through social media to all interested parties – including runner information for the day & impacts of the race for local residents. We are lucky to be well supported by the whole local community many of whom volunteer as marshals on the day. Local running clubs are also key to the success of the event.
