Company activities and impact

Bugz and Bunnies CIC is an Outdoor learning space that provides activities for children and adults with additional needs. We have various groups who can access our sessions such as Tiny Steps children's group who are a members only group who help children and the families access suitable sessions for their needs. There is an adult group who also access our space with their support workers, where they can do various crafts and interact with the small animals and take part in some gardening activities. We have a group of young people who also attend regular groups from 12 plus where they can take part and learn together. We concentrate on life skills such as cookery outside camp fire growing vegetables and fruit, helping to care for the small animals. This can also include outdoor crafts, den building and how to use tools in a safe way to help promote independence. We provide weekly tots sessions for children and their families where they can come along and play in the mud kitchen, sandpit, digging area and taking part in an activity that is based on themes such as the seasons. There are 2 SEN tots sessions that will be starting in March 2024 for toddlers with SEN who have difficulties accessing regular tots sessions. In April 2024 we will be working with carers to provide well being sessions for carers to be able to take part in various work shops such as macrame, weaving and embroidery. There will also be breaks for parent carers for them to bring their children along to play in the forest school area while they also have a break from their daily caring role. The inspiration behind setting up as a CIC is mainly from being a parent of a child with special needs and seeing how difficult it has been over the years to access activities for them. We wanted to create a safe space and hub for vulnerable people and their families to come along to without fear of judgement. We have support from local businesses, schools, nurseries, local councillors and volunteer groups. We have various members and people who follow what we do on Facebook. There is a booking system under wix where regular updates are added for different groups and workshops.
