Activities have benefited the community in the following ways: Local residents (particularly those without access to cars and those with impaired mobility) have been able to access Qigong classes with a volunteer carer to bring them and take them home from the venue. Postnatal women have been able to attend classes where there is room for buggies, which they say also gives them a chance to enjoy the park on the way to and from the classes. Class members who themselves provide exercise classes for vulnerable groups (e.g. people with Parkin-son’s) learn from the Qigong classes to improve what they offer in their classes. Local residents have been able to access specialist information on Diabetes and on Pelvic Health and Postnatal Recovery in a relaxed, friendly setting, free of charge. The CIC example has been followed by other organisations also offering “health literacy” events. A partnership has been formed with a patient advocacy organisation to work with UCLH Women’s Health Directorate. ULCH have agreed to re-instate the former midwifery “outreach clinic”, bringing the midwives to the local women and saving them travel to the West End. This is a cost-savings opportunity for UCLH who will save £30 on the overheads for each midwife appointment. Women will go to the hospital only for scans, blood tests, and specialist appointments, contributing to environmental sustainability.
The company’s stakeholders are Hackney agencies (Resident Participation, Public Health, and Population Health) North East London ICB Homerton Hospital and Homerton midwives BodyOwn Limited Spring Hill GP Practice and associated GP practices UCLH and ULCH midwives Health and social support charities in Stamford Hill such as “Bikur Holim” in the Orthodox Jewish Com-munity Local community groups supporting Black women and active Muslim women’s groups. Women who live locally (all ages, postnatal women, women who are carers, women with chronic health conditions, women of all ethnicities). Our funders at Hackney from different agencies offer advice and ideas which have been followed up, for example, being introduced to Hackney networking events and Hackney Community Voluntary Services, and the Springfield and Woodberry Wetlands Neighbourhood leadership forums. Our 2024-2025 projects include embedded evaluations and reporting. This includes pre- and post- event surveys to be filled in anonymously be participants and reporting to funders at the end of the grants. We ask all the women who come to Tai chi and Qigong regularly to fill out a feedback form for monitoring and reporting to funders. Additionally, informal feedback is received and always welcomed. In response to feedback the CIC made efforts to provide another type of exercise class for Jewish women (unfortunately teachers could not provide the hours available at the venue) and provides all Tai chi and Qigong exercise classes free of charge.
