COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

WATERHEAD COMMUNITY SPORTS CLUB CIC

Company Number: 15034387 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 July 2024

Company activities and impact

The company operates a community sports club, providing opportunities for children, young people, and adults to participate in a range of sports including rugby league, football, and netball. Throughout the financial year, the company has continued to grow its impact, delivering a wide range of activities that promote health, wellbeing, and community engagement. Highlights from the year include: Offering regular training and match opportunities across multiple sports for over 300 children and young people, helping to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and personal development. Significantly growing participation among pre-school aged children across rugby, football, and netball, with over 100 children now taking part in regular sessions that support early physical development, coordination, and social skills. Establishing a new Masters rugby league team for men aged 35 and over, encouraging older players to remain active, socially connected, and engaged with sport in a supportive environment. Delivering significant facility improvements, including upgrades to changing areas, pitches, and equipment, to enhance the quality of experience for all participants across all sports. Supporting the wider community by providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment that fosters positive relationships, resilience, and community pride through sport. Through these activities, the company continues to make a meaningful and lasting difference to individuals, families, and the broader local community.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders include players, parents and guardians of youth participants, coaches, volunteers, and members of the local community who engage with the club’s sporting and community activities. The directors and management team are all actively involved with the club and maintain regular informal contact with members and supporters. During the financial year, we carried out a formal consultation with stakeholders by distributing a questionnaire to the parents and guardians of all players across our rugby league, football, and netball programmes. The questionnaire sought feedback on all aspects of the club’s activities, including coaching quality, facilities, communication, and opportunities for development. In response to the feedback received: We have made improvements to our facilities, including upgrading changing areas, maintaining pitches to a higher standard, and purchasing additional equipment to better support training and match-day experiences. We expanded our provision for younger children, significantly growing pre-school aged participation across multiple sports. We continue to encourage ongoing informal consultation by maintaining open lines of communication between the management team, coaching staff, and club members, ensuring we remain responsive to new ideas and emerging needs. Through both formal and informal consultations, the club ensures that it remains community-led and continues to evolve in line with the needs and aspirations of our stakeholders.
