Proud to Be Me CIC is a community interest company committed to empowering girls, trans girls, and non-binary young people aged 11–25, as well as supporting their families and communities. We take a trauma-informed, culturally competent, and identity-affirming approach to improving mental health, self-esteem, and safeguarding awareness. During the financial year, Proud to Be Me CIC has benefited the community in the following ways: We delivered a series of monthly empowerment workshops for women, girls, individuals. These sessions focused on improving mental health, building confidence, and fostering emotional resilience through creative and reflective activities. Participants reported increased wellbeing, a greater sense of self-worth, and reduced isolation. We ran weekly movement and wellbeing classes, for people who have health conditions such as hyper tension, stroke, remission, including mindfulness, gentle fitness, and expressive movement. These were specifically designed to improve physical health, boost mood, and offer a safe space for emotional release. These sessions have supported over 60 participants in managing anxiety, depression, and stress. We began development of our County Lines Online Awareness Course for parents and caregivers of girls, trans girls, and non-binary youth. The course is designed to provide practical, accessible safeguarding education and will include expert-led Q&A sessions, lived experience voices, downloadable resources, and peer support opportunities. This programme fills a critical gap in support for families impacted by exploitation. We continued to build partnerships with grassroots organisations, professionals, and lived experience advocates, ensuring that all our work is community-led, relevant, and impactful. Through these activities, Proud to Be Me CIC has provided consistent, high-quality support to marginalised communities, contributing to improved mental health, increased confidence, and safer environments for vulnerable young people and their families.
Proud to Be Me CIC places community voices at the centre of everything we do. Throughout the year, we consulted extensively with our stakeholders to ensure our programmes meet the real needs of those we serve. We engaged over 200 parents, caregivers, and young people through surveys, focus groups, and informal feedback to co-design our upcoming County Lines Awareness Course. This consultation shaped both the content and delivery method, ensuring accessibility, cultural relevance, and trauma sensitivity. Our weekly and monthly programme participants are invited to share feedback regularly via evaluation forms and reflective sessions. We also maintain open communication channels through social media, email, and our community WhatsApp groups to ensure a constant feedback loop. We partner with trusted organisations such as Prestine youth and facework UK, UK Black Pride, and community advocates, whose insights continue to guide our direction. We also consulted professionals - including teachers, social workers, and therapists - to align our training with current safeguarding standards and lived realities. As a result of these consultations, we have tailored our course materials to address specific issues affecting girls, trans girls, and non-binary youth, particularly those from racially minoritised and low-income backgrounds.
