COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

ART WITH SMILES CIC

Company Number: 14242132 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 July 2024

Company activities and impact

During the reporting year, Art with Smiles continued to deliver a wide range of arts-based community activities aimed at improving wellbeing, creativity, and social connection. These included: Drawing and Painting Workshops for all age groups, fostering creativity and building artistic confidence. Mindful Drawing Sessions, helping participants manage stress, anxiety, and improve focus. Music Workshops for children and adults, encouraging expression, rhythm, and collaboration. Family Art Days which brought together children and parents for collaborative art projects. Adult-only Art Sessions, offering a relaxed, inclusive space to learn, share, and connect through art. These sessions were held in Manchester. The focus remained on inclusion, mental wellbeing, and access to creativity for all, particularly targeting local communities and vulnerable or isolated individuals. Feedback collected through surveys and informal conversations indicated that participants felt more relaxed, connected, and confident after attending our activities. Several adults who had previously never engaged in arts activities expressed how valuable and uplifting the sessions were to their emotional wellbeing.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders include workshop participants (adults and children), parents and carers, local community centres, and partner organisations involved in delivering community-based services. We have consulted our stakeholders in the following ways: Feedback forms and verbal feedback collected at the end of sessions to assess participant experience and gather suggestions. Informal conversations with parents and carers attending family sessions to understand their needs and preferences. Discussions with community centre staff and local partner organisations to identify current gaps in provision and opportunities for collaboration. As a result of this consultation: We introduced additional mindful drawing sessions in response to high demand from adults seeking mental wellbeing support. We developed more family-oriented activities after feedback from parents wanting to engage in creative activities with their children. We adjusted session times and locations based on feedback to make workshops more accessible, especially for working parents and those relying on public transport. We are committed to continuing this dialogue and using it to guide the development of future activities.
