People Empowering People (PEP) delivers community support programmes focused on social inclusion, employment, and legal guidance, particularly for women, refugees, asylum seekers, and BAME individuals. Key Activities and Impact 1.Empowering Walk Club (Since Dec 2020) Organises three weekly walks, engaging 1,500 women across multiple locations. Improves confidence, fitness, and social inclusion for isolated individuals. 2.Employment Support (Since Nov 2022) Partners with DWP to support BAME and refugee clients into work. Developed an accredited Employability Skills Course with WEA. Assisted 22 individuals, with a target of 50 by Nov 2024. 3.Refugee and Asylum Seeker Support (Since Nov 2022) Provides English sessions, tailored referrals, and service access. Collaborates with local councils, GPs, and community centres. 4.ESOL and English Tutor Support Delivers in-person and online English courses across Rossendale and Hyndburn. Introduced ESOL for Driving Theory to support employment access. 5.Legal Support Clinic (Pilot Since Sep 2023) Free legal drop-in clinics with Manchester based Solicitors for asylum seekers and refugees. Addresses immigration, family reunification, and urgent legal concerns. 6.Accredited and Non Accredited Courses (With WEA) Provides functional Maths & English, employability skills, Bespoke ESOL and driving theory. Engaged 100 clients, improving career and education prospects. Through partnerships and community-driven projects, PEP fosters social integration, employment access, and essential services for underrepresented groups
Stakeholders: PEP engages with various stakeholders to ensure its services are responsive to communi-ty needs. These include: Beneficiaries: Women, BAME individuals, refugees, asylum seekers, and unemployed individ-uals. Partner Organisations: DWP, WEA, Lancashire County Council, GPs, community centres, and legal service providers. Funders: Local government and grant-giving bodies. Community Networks: Social media groups and local community forums. Consultation Methods and Stakeholder Engagement: PEP actively consults with stakeholders through: Surveys and Focus Groups: Conducted with service users to identify barriers and co-design solutions. Social media and Online Platforms: Engaging over 1,500 community members to gather feed-back and encourage participation. Collaborative Meetings with Partners: Regular discussions with organisations like DWP and WEA to enhance programme effectiveness. Community Open Days: Providing direct interaction with stakeholders to showcase services and gather input. Actions Taken in Response to Stakeholder Feedback: Expanded walk leader training to empower more women to independently organise walks. Introduced ESOL for Driving Theory after identifying transportation as a key barrier to em-ployment. Strengthened employment support initiatives, including accredited courses, to meet job market needs. Secured legal support services in response to growing concerns over immigration and asylum issues. Enhanced digital access to ESOL and employment support, addressing challenges faced by re-mote learners. Through continuous consultation and adaptation, PEP ensures that its initiatives remain relevant, im-pactful, and community-driven.
