In the final two stages of the South Locality Project. Writing for Wellness CIC delivered a series of impactful creative writing courses residents in the south of Doncaster including adults experiencing mental health challenges, and individuals with long-term health conditions. These sessions encouraged self-expression, emotional resilience, and community connection through writing exercises, group discussions, and sharing circles. The project culminated in an anthology which included residents finished creative pieces.

Consultation with stakeholders

Writing for Wellness CIC engaged in meaningful consultation with a range of stakeholders throughout the development and delivery of their project. Feedback from participants of earlier workshops particularly those with lived experience of mental health challenges, chronic illness, and social isolation played a crucial role in shaping the format and content of the sessions. Many highlighted the value of combining writing with creative arts to support emotional expression and improve wellbeing. Key community partners, including The People Focused Group, New Beginnings (Aspire), Club Doncaster Foundation, Wildings and Wellbeing CIC, Growing Together, and Food Aware CIC, were actively involved in discussions around planning and delivery. These collaborations ensured that the project addressed real community needs and allowed for tailored approaches to specific groups, such as refugees, people with long-term health conditions, and those experiencing bereavement or chronic pain.
