COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

ACTIVITY ANGELS CIC

Company Number: 15453414 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 January 2025

Company activities and impact

Since opening our doors to our beneficiaries in May 2024, we have been delivering a vast array of regular activity sessions for adults 18+ in our community each week; bringing people together, empowering our community to benefit from social engagement, meaningful conversation, make new connections, and reduce their feelings of loneliness and isolation. In these 8 months (until Jan 2025), we have delivered 133 sessions and begun providing much-needed support to over 50 local individuals through social inclusion and signposting. Our social groups provide a fun, positive and enjoyable way to socialise with others, they give our members something to look forward to in the week, focus on improving mental/physical well-being, and make a positive difference to their lives; spreading positivity through activities. As loneliness stems from multiple causes, our charity values ourselves on being fully inclusive, community-spirited and non-judgemental. We have been offering friendly, helpful and encouraging support to local people from all walks of life and different backgrounds. Our organisation cultivates, and promotes intergenerational connections with our attendees ranging from their 20s up to 80s. We foster a can-do approach to help our beneficiaries build self-confidence and self-worth to improve their overall well-being. Those who have benefitted from attending our groups regularly, include community members who are: widowed, retired, caring for a loved one, unemployed, on sick leave, Autistic, ADHD, living alone, diagnosed with depression/ anxiety, and general low mental health, as well as members who have: learning disabilities, dementia, and physical/visual impairments. We have created a sense of community where people feel they belong and can be their true selves. Service users are motivated to leave the house/get out and about into the community to meet for our groups in various venues where we deliver our regular ‘pop-up’ sessions. Many of our services users have established genuine connections through attending and told us how they now enjoy meeting other attendees outside of groups as well; going for coffee, out for dinner, and round each other’s houses. Activity Angels has created these opportunities for members of our community to meet new people by creating these warm, welcoming, inclusive, kind and safe spaces for new friendships to blossom. Offering such a variety of activities as part of our community-driven, ever-adapting and evolving timetable, ensures that people are more likely to meet like-minded individuals, who have similar interests/hobbies/passions, which allows for instant conversation starters. By delivering such variation there is also something for everyone’s taste. Throughout this year, we have begun forming strong community connections locally, which has enabled us to confidently signpost across the town to other support/community groups, charities, organisations, and hubs. We have also established several partnerships with other local service providers to offer activities and host groups specifically for their niche service users as well as our own, which includes a provider who runs groups for over 50s, and another who supports visually impaired people. We intend to continue to support and partner with other organisations where we can, to help our community further through these collaborations. Over our first year of service, we’ve also focused on benefitting our community through improving our staff knowledge and understanding by attending many specific training courses; from Dementia friends to mental health training, to gambling to hoarding, safeguarding and more. This additional learning & understanding will continue to allow us to support and signpost our members even greater over a longer term, with us coming into contact with so many members of our community who could be struggling with these issues. We continue to raise funds to help assist ourselves with running our activities, including organising events, raffles etc. All profits are reinvested back into our community organisation. We have also followed our mission to reduce loneliness locally for our fundraising events, where we hosted local dating nights for single people to mix and mingle at our fast flirting events.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our organisation’s main stakeholders are the residents of Warrington, Cheshire. We regularly invite our local community members to provide feedback and suggestions through our online polls, surveys, social media, promotional stands, as well as in-person. Regular consultations are held with our services users directly at group sessions out loud, as well as inviting anonymous feedback through surveys online/using our computer tablets. Our organisation is community-led and community-driven, and we remain flexible with our provision of activities; aiming to evolve and adapt to the ever-changing needs of our community to stay relevant and continue to create long lasting positive impact locally.

Directors' remuneration

We employed one of our directors as our activity provision provider, who has received salary through the payroll scheme. This can be found on our accounts clearly listing one paid employee of Activity Angels. Total remuneration received by the directors was £16,163.40.
