Sahara Family advice is a service for all, Kindled through the identification of dire need of professional guidance, support and advocacy for families who have their children taken into care. Sahara family advice encourage a multi agency approach working with social workers, school staff, health professionals to achieve the best outcomes for them and their children. Often families feel isolated and unsupported when their children are taken into care. Their options are limited as the only independent support available is through solicitors, which are expensive and can be unreliable. Social services do provide support but it is often difficult for the family to work with the same set of professionals that have made a decision to remove their children. Social services are also overworked and under resourced. Sahara Family Advice will support with: understanding processes, comprehending why the child has been taken into care, understanding how they will be assessed, advice on how to build evidence to support their side: tailored training delivered by qualified social workers, maintaining contact with their children, feeling backed up in vital professional meeting, being involved in decision making, having knowledge of what is expected from the family and why, knowing what options they have. signposting to relevant specialist support agencies, being aware of their rights and home visits to support families. Research indicates that the amount of children in care has increased by 28% in the past decade. Our service aims to limit the amount of children that stay in the care system through the above work. This will have massive financial benefit for local authorities who spend millions on children in care every year and free up more money to support public.
