The company aims at socialising achievement and behaviour rewards are proven to help those living with and striving to give up addiction to substances improve their mental health and their capacity to deal with those challenges significantly Volunteering and learning new skills is also proven to improve the mental health and wellbeing of individuals who benefit from the feel good factor of helping others The secondary aim of the company is to create volunteering and potential opportunities for the wider public who stake a claim to be involved in the business The impact of this will be manifold improvement in confidence of volunteers who may have their own socializing challenges outside the core concern of substance misuse and addiction This gaining in confidence will happen through Gaining of confidence through the making of new friends whether in the form of those participants in recovery and with other volunteers whether through company events or outreach days The gaining of new skills and learning through company Improved health through the promotion of healthier options and the relinquishing for their chosen amount of time of their own casual substance use whatever form that takes or if they do at all The opportunity to enjoy live sport in a relaxed nonaggressive environment either in their voluntary role or with their own family and friends The company will host social events which will help the community in following ways Increase the confidence and health of both the core audience of substance addicts in recovery and volunteers giving them the opportunity to socialise and make new friends in order to be more resilient in their recovery journey Create a less stressful environment for families and friends of addicts to enjoy a communal pastime while helping their loved ones Educate nonaddicts in the form of volunteers or customers about addiction and dispel myths in order to see it as a health issue rather than a moral one Stimulate a support network and community around those tackling addiction as well as support for their families The company will identify learning development and training related to the fields of addiction support sport healthy lifestyles or transferrable skills that support both client group addicts and volunteers which will help the community in following ways Will upskill client group and volunteers to benefit of social enterprise both in terms of its effectiveness and potential for further growth and those individuals in their own lives whether in employment volunteering or socially Will increase the likelihood of successful outcomes for addicts Provide opportunities for clients to share their experiences beyond GCG building their confidence and skills
The company stakeholders will create a safe immersive space in which to watch live sports and escape the rigors and distractions of everyday life and in particular the temptation of alcohol the primary source of addiction for many and a gateway to other substances or the hook for relapses for others Promote the team ethos to help addicts and nonaddicts feel part of a bigger community that supports them This ethos will manifest itself through Customer oriented memberships with associated benefits but also a sense of being part of something bigger through the branding concept Fun relaxed community atmosphere promoted and facilitated at the events Outreach events utilizing excess income or profits in the longer term to organize excursions or away days that will either directly benefit the target audience and volunteers create inspiration and or aspiration or act as a reward to stimulate ongoing healthy behaviours Outreach activity will be sport themed The company stakeholders will organise family and friend events as income grows introducing new immersive elements to the occasions so that families and friends can enjoy the game and other activities in an alcohol free space while providing support to their loved ones in recovery Consultation with members will contribute to the offer available at family and friends events Identifying potential training and learning to improve the skills of both addicts volunteers in recovery and nonaddict volunteers then helping them to pursue the courses needed whether through funding applications or reinvesting company profits where this becomes a reality The company stakeholders will provide the opportunities for clients and volunteers to contribute to a wider learning and development aim to include working with schools community groups and the general public to promote understanding of addiction and recovery
