COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

THREEFOLD THEATRE CIC

Company Number: 13126624 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 August 2024

Company activities and impact

Threefold is a CIC Community Theatre Company for young people in East Bristol. Our mission is to provide unique, high quality access to the arts. We want most of the people we work with to be from families and communities that are underserved by the educational and cultural services currently on offer. Threefold started in working with young people in October 2021. We run three groups for 7- 9s and 10-12s and 13-18 year olds. Our weekly after school group develops a sense of creativity, awareness and passion in our youth. We use drama, music and movement to explore stories that are relevant to their lives and imagination and devise performances that are shared with families and the wider community. We believe these experiences can change the trajectory of people's lives during a time of immense learning and change

Consultation with stakeholders

We want most of the people we work with to be from families and communities that are underserved by the educational and cultural services currently on offer. There is a real need to provide these services at low or no cost which is why we offer 1/3 of places free for young people who would not otherwise access opportunities in the arts. Our research, consultations with organisations and surveys with over 120 local people has shown that spaces and groups are in need. Many people found mainstream performance services too expensive or out of their geographical comfort zone.Understanding what is important to our members is key. We consult informally in conversation and in more structured ways through regular surveys, to assess our impact and help inform our planning. We work closely with partner organisations to steer and inform our strategy aiming to reach more young people. Our aim is for our cohort to reflect the social, racial and economic diversity of our area and reach and involve more young people who are vastly underrepresented in the arts.
