The company runs United Legal Access, which is a civil legal services organisation providing predominately pro bono legal assistance to members of the community. The areas we provide advice and support are; employment, housing, contractual disputes, consumer rights, race discrimination, immigration and Windrush matters. The purpose of the company is to provide free initial legal advice to people who are not eligible for legal aid but cannot afford to pay for legal help. This is to ensure everyone, regardless of their race, age, social status, background, or gender has an understanding of their legal rights when faced with a problem and clearly understands what steps they can take and the options available to them in resolving the problem they are experiencing. Without this, they will be at a disadvantage and may suffer further detriment. Between October 2023 and September 2024, 70 people from across England and Wales were given free legal advice through our online advice clinic and 61 people were given advice and/or assisted with applications to the Windrush Scheme and Windrush Compensation Scheme on a pro bono basis.
We always ask people who access our services to give us feedback, as well as encourage them to leave a review. Some have consented for their feedback or review to be shared on our social networks or for us to record testimonials to share, as a way to promote what we do and encourage others facing similar legal issues, to come forward and seek help. This has helped us to build up a profile of our beneficiaries’ needs and what we can do to meet them more effectively.
The total amount receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £22,064 There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
