Principal activities of the company

Banbury Quays Consortium has been active in liaising with Oxfordshire County Council, Cherwell District Council, Banbury Town Council, local landowners, businesses and arts providers to: Advocate for Pedestrian steps leading from Banbury Railway Station to the canal footpath leading to Banbury Town Centre. Advocate for quality wall art on surfaces that attract unwelcome graffiti. Encourage Increased footfall within Castle Quay Shopping Centre and the Canalside to reinvigorate Banbury Town Centre. Input into the Banbury 2050 Vision document. Support the creation of the Banbury Cultural Strategy. Support the development of the Banbury Canal Festival.

Additional information

Banbury Quays Consortium meets on a regular basis and is active in promoting its key objectives. None of this has, as yet, generated any income OR incurred any expenditure. The directors of Banbury Quays Consortium CIC give their time ‘pro bono’. BQC CIC does not have a bank account. Its only asset is the share capital of the directors. It is, therefore, for accounting purposes, DORMANT.

Company activities and impact

Banbury Quays Consortium has been active in liaising with Oxfordshire County Council, Cherwell District Council, Banbury Town Council, local landowners, businesses and arts providers to advocate for Pedestrian steps leading from Banbury Railway Station to the canal footpath leading to Banbury Town Centre. It has encouraged increased footfall within Castle Quay Shopping Centre and the Canalside to reinvigorate Banbury Town Centre by promoting a pivot from retail to leisure. It has input into the Banbury 2050 Vision document. It has supported the creation of the Banbury Cultural Strategy and has supported the development of the Banbury Canal Festival.

Consultation with stakeholders

We meet regularly with Oxfordshire County County Council, Cherwell District Council and Banbury Town Council and others to promote our objectives. We also meet with Banbury Business Improvement District as well as representatives of civic society - including arts, heritage and cultural organisations.
