Reduced homelessness, increased employment, improved self esteem, integration into the community and the shift from housing benefit to private rental are all dependent upon firstly having a roof over one’s head. Instead of sofa surfing or temporary night shelter accommodation we offer a safe, stable, and affordable place to live. Refugees learn how to be self-sufficient and able to navigate their way to support agencies through referral by our support workers. We provide holistic support for up to 18 months to both the refugee lodger and the landlord to the point where the refugee lodger is ready to move on to private rental accommodation. The refugee community consistently explains to us that two of their biggest challenges they face are isolation and the loneliness this brings. Our aim is for our refugee homes to be places of community where they can foster supportive relationships and live a better life.
