COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

SAFETY IN MUSIC CIC

Company Number: 12647639 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 June 2024

Company activities and impact

Safety In Music CIC works towards reducing serious organised crime and harms being caused to vulnerable children, young people, and adults. We develop innovative educational and vocational creative arts programmes which enable vulnerable young people and adults to contribute significantly to the music industry. We use key industry leaders and highly skilled practitioners to deliver interactive workshops using the power of music, lyrics, dance, games, and video production. During 2023/2024, Safety In Music CIC carried out minimal operations, as one of the directors successfully completed full time courses in both a BA (Hons) in Education and an MA in Education.

Consultation with stakeholders

Safety In Music CIC's stakeholders include our trainees and partners, such as young people, parents and carers, the Home Office, West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit, the West Yorkshire Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Kirklees Children’s Rights Services, Kirklees Council, Kirklees Foster Carers, Huddersfield University, Leeds Beckett University, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, university and college placement students, and Safety In Music CIC’s Young Ambassador Leaders. Due to minimal operations during 2023/2024, formal consultation activities were limited. However, we maintained open communication channels with key stakeholders and partners and continued to engage with past participants and supporters through our website and social media platforms. Informal feedback was gathered to ensure that future programme delivery remains aligned with the needs and priorities of our communities. Safety In Music CIC remains committed to working in close partnership with the West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit and other co-production partners to support ongoing research and intelligence-gathering relating to areas of high need across the region, with the aim of resuming full programme delivery in the near future.
