COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

BANKSIDE GALLERY HULL CIC

Company Number: 11513732 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 August 2024

Company activities and impact

Bankside Gallery Hull helps regenerate areas of Hull using street art as our tool. We secure permission on walls to create legal graffiti and street art spaces, which are free for the community to paint - this provides a free and accessible platform for artists to hone their craft, get their work scene and encourage people to be out in the fresh air and explore their city. The walls also act as a free attraction for local people and for tourists, who visit the city, and spend money in local businesses. Artworks on the free legal walls have led to commissions for artists elsewhere in the city, after they've been spotted on the legal spaces. The project also helps to brighten up formerly neglected and grey, concrete filled areas of the city - bringing colour to areas and helping attract footfall.

Consultation with stakeholders

We are in regular contact with the local artistic community, helping to promote their work and discussing how we can improve the services we offer. We are also in regular contact with local businesses and land owners to secure more walls and maintain our existing collection. We are also in regular contact with the local council, to discuss ways to improve, aspects we can add to our work and to help secure more legal artistic spaces.
