Cardiff Umbrella CIC is an artist-led community interest company based in Cardiff, supporting creative practitioners and local communities through accessible, inclusive, and collaborative arts programming. During the financial year 2024–2025, although the company generated no income, it continued to deliver meaningful impact through volunteer-led activity and in-kind support from partners and collaborators. The company’s activities benefited the community in the following ways: - Organised and facilitated over 50 creative workshops, discussions, and community events, increasing access to the arts for individuals of all ages and backgrounds, particularly those facing social or economic barriers. - Delivered a series of exhibitions and public art interventions in both traditional and non-traditional spaces, helping to revitalise neglected areas and bring creative experiences into the everyday lives of Cardiff residents. - Supported 25 early-career and marginalised artists with unpaid development opportunities, collaborative platforms, and public exposure for their work. - Partnered with local organisations, charities, and community groups to co-create projects that engaged young people in meaningful creative activity outside of formal educational settings. - Operated entirely through voluntary labour, with a core team of four artist-organisers contributing their time and expertise to sustain the organisation and its mission. - Strengthened Cardiff’s independent arts ecology by nurturing artist-led networks and peer-led initiatives, promoting shared learning and mutual support. Despite the absence of income during this time, Cardiff Umbrella CIC continued to demonstrate the value of grassroots cultural activity as a force for connection, creativity, and community resilience.
