PROGRAMMING DAN delivered: - DAN Social and showcase, at Strangebrew, 115 attendees, employing 6 artists, launching our agency and showing our latest film. - All Things Dance network meeting and showcase, partnering with The Mount Without involving 145 particpants, featuuring 10 dance groups involving over 70 dancers and 4 speakers. - All things Theatre network meeting, partnering with Bristol Old Vic, 85 attendees, employing 5 artists facitliators and 3 speakers. - 46 1-1 mentoring sessions offering support in areas such as fundraising, programming, and portfolio development to enhance their professional growth. - Held consultations with 4 festivals, expanding their diverse artist involvement and diverse audience engagement, Hosting an area at Shambala festival offering 18 artists paid employment and developing diverse crew members. Taking 50 artists and family members to a day at WOMAD festival and facilitating 12 artists to participate in We Out Here festival. - Coordinated and delivered DIASPORA! Festival in May 2024, working with 200 artists delivering 80 events and developing 15 new partnerships across the city, reaching 10,000 audience members. - Expanded our membership for 35 artists: facilitating access to events, job opportunities, and fostering stronger community relationships among artists. - Developed our agency to have 20 artists gaining work across the region. - Delivered 25 flag making workshops with 4 key artists reaching over 450 participants. - Initiated a Poetry competition with the theme of Home and Belonging, bringing in 35 entrants and having the 3 winners perform different events. GOVERNANCE - Developed our board with 3 new members. - Cemented the relationship with Friends Of DAN and involved them in the curation of DIASPORA! - Developed a strategic three-year business plan aimed at expanding our reach to more diverse artists. - Commenced the development of a new website with an agency platform designed to promote diverse artists and secure more opportunities for them. - Held 2 development days with the board , upodateing the business plan and developing a fundraising strategy. - Our dedicated team includes a CEO (0.1FTE), Creative Programme Director (0.3 FTE), a Company Manager (0.3 FTE), and an Admin and Social Media Coordinator (0.2 FTE), supplemented by the expertise of six freelancers. - Had our first office in SPARKS for the delivery of DIASPORA!
STAKEHOLDERS IDENTIFIED 1. Artists and Creatives: consisting of individuals and collectives from diverse backgrounds within the arts community; 2. Organisations and Venues: arts and cultural institutions, galleries, event spaces, and festivals that collaborate with or host artists and their works; 3. Board Members: oversee the strategic direction of the company and ensure its mission is pursued effectively; 4. Members of 'Friends of DAN': supporters who contribute to the mission by providing space in kind consultancy and advice; 5. Local Community and Audiences: engage with and participate in the events, workshops, and festivals organised or curated by Diverse Artists Network. 6. Funding Bodies and Partnerships: provide financial support for the initiatives and projects carried out by DAN. CONSULTATION METHODS - Networking Events: through these events, the company has facilitated direct conversations between over 560 artists and 60 different organisations, gathering feedback and insights on how to better support artistic collaborations and community engagement. - Mentorship Programmes: provided personalised support to 46 artists, using these interactions as an opportunity to understand and address the specific needs and challenges faced by artists in their professional development. - Strategic Consultations: engaged with 4 organisations and festivals specifically to gather insights on implementing inclusive strategies, directly responding to stakeholder feedback regarding diversity and representation. These led to 62 artists attending as diverse representatives and 18 artists being employed. Also we consulted with over 30 different arts and cultural organisation about their involvement in Diaspora! Festival, resulting in a hugely inclusive programme across the city and expanding into the region. - Curated Festival Programming: feedback from the diverse talents showcased, and the audience attending these festivals, has informed future programming decisions, ensuring responsiveness to community interests and representation needs. This has led to the increase in agency bookings and being asked to work with new festivals. Feedback from artists say how valuable these opportunities are. - 2nd iteration of Membership Launch: in consultation with artists and organsiations. - Team development: Feedback from events and the broader stakeholder community has informed the structuring of the team and the engagement of freelancers to better serve the mission of the organisation.
The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £21,877. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
