Notes to the Financial Statements

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable for goods supplied and services rendered, net of discounts and Value Added Tax. Revenue from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership have transferred to the buyer (usually on despatch of the goods); the amount of revenue can be measured reliably; it is probable that the associated economic benefits will flow to the entity; and the costs incurred or to be incurred in respect of the transactions can be measured reliably.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

Depreciation is calculated so as to write off the cost or valuation of an asset, less its residual value, over the useful economic life of that asset as follows: Fittings fixtures and equipment - 10% straight line If there is an indication that there has been a significant change in depreciation rate, useful life or residual value of tangible assets, the depreciation is revised prospectively to reflect the new estimates.

COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

THE COUP DONEMANA CIC

Year Ending: 31 August 2024

Company activities and impact

The Coup continues to promote the work of The Company - situated in the premises in Donemana village. It remains a place where local people come together so that social isolation and poor well-being is addressed. The Coup opened in June 2021 and continues to benefit the local community in the following ways: 1. Providing activities such as craft classes in crochet, knitting, sewing and card making. As the class members grow so does their confidence. 2. Facilitate and run a weekly yoga class to boost physical and mental health. 3. Continue to provide a comfortable space for the local GP practice and multidisciplinary team to host patient information days on topics such as Myofascial Release Therapy for general pain management and Support for improved mental health. 4. Facilitated an information event for RAPID to showcase all the different funding bodies available to the North West. 5. The COUP held a Fair and Craft sale to support local craftspeople.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders are the residents of Donemana and surrounding areas. The directors have lived and worked in the area for many years. Following on from the craft class attendees forming their own sub group, their feedback has lead to a number of new activities. They have been working on crocheting poppies to create a display in their local place of worship for last Year’s Remembrance. This is now an ongoing project. A Christmas idea came for them to decorate trees associated with local businesses. This makes for a greater community spirit as well as them feeling more involved, they reported. The COUP have tried to facilitate a couple of trips out each year, however one was arranged and was most successful. This was a trip with the village Donemana Men’s Shed to Moville Mens Shed in Donegal where picnics, shore walks and music took place with much chat. The Yoga group continue to run themselves in that they organise times and days, and feedback any ideas for reaching new people. Their numbers have increased. Work has begun to liaise more with a community group whose ethos and range of activities is complementary to The COUP’s. From this The COUP will attend yearly panning meetings following on from initial contact. This it is hoped will boost uptake of all voluntary groups in the area, illuminate any duplication of activities and concentrate limited resources into meaningful and well attended events. The COUP very much appreciate the meetings to date with this group as we are learning from each other and can support their work. Feedback in general now informs all that we do and run in The Coup.
