Day School is a year-long alternative arts education programme (est. 2021), offering artists a shared studio space alongside monthly education days with guest artists, support and advice for work and careers, and other professional development opportunities, community projects and social occasions.During the financial year 2023-2024, the school's activities have benefited the community in the following ways:-Working with x14 early career artists in Bristol to support them in their careers and provide them with opportunities in the arts-We have staged a number of public events that are open to all, including exhibitions and open studios-Day School provides freelance employment to artists in Bristol/South West/UK to run workshops and provide educational content-We have also worked with other freelance professionals based locally (e.g. website developer)-This year we have seen many fruits from participants from previous cohorts of Day School. This includes a participant staging a major exhibition at Spike Island in Bristol, a participant being awarded a prestigious Freelands Fellowship, and x2 participants setting up an artist-led studio space in Bristol.
Day School's primary stakeholders in the 2023-2024 financial year were the participants in our education programmeWe issued online questionnaires at the end of participants' time with us in order to gain feedback. We also spoke informally with our participants throughout their education programme. In addition we would ask artists who were providing freelance work on our education programme for emailed feedback on the sessions they had run.We have used this feedback in order to inform our educational programming into the next year.
