Circus for Survivors is a community interest company dedicated to supporting Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of gendered abuse. Our mission is to empower Survivors to reclaim their bodies, rebuild confidence, and connect within a supportive community. We do this through a diverse range of free, accessible workshops designed to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Our workshops include dance, yoga, aerial arts, mindfulness, and photography. These sessions provide a holistic approach to healing, addressing both the physical and emotional impacts of harm. Participants not only develop new skills but also forge connections with others who understand and empathise with their experiences. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to equity, accessibility, inclusivity, and long-term support. We actively reach out to marginalised communities, ensuring that our services are accessible to all who need them, regardless of their background. Our partnerships with support services and local organisations allow us to extend our reach and provide a continuum of care. Participant feedback has consistently highlighted the transformative impact of our work: “This has been an integral part of my healing.” – J “It is so amazing for all of us Survivors that this project exists.” – Y “It’s an absolute lifeline.” – L “These workshops have changed my life. I didn't understand beforehand how or why a circus workshop could help me, particularly mentally and emotionally. However, it's been completely transformational for me - changing my relationship with my body, giving me a new sense of inner power.” – A
Our stakeholders include Survivors of gendered abuse, local support services, frontline workers, and volunteers who participate in and facilitate our workshops. We maintain a user-led, purpose-driven approach, with participants actively contributing to programme design through feedback and consultation. We regularly consult with local domestic abuse services, sexual violence support organisations, and homeless shelters to ensure our workshops meet the needs of those we serve. Training sessions in anti-racism, intersectionality, movement, and disclosure handling are provided for facilitators to maintain a safe, inclusive environment. Participant feedback is central to our programme development, and we have made numerous adjustments based on their insights. For example, we have expanded the variety of workshops offered and increased the flexibility of session scheduling to accommodate different needs. Quotes from participants further illustrate the value of our work: “Thank you so much, you've saved my body and mind.” – D “This project gave me back my sense of connection and motivation.” – T “The session really helped with my mental wellbeing and my self-acceptance. It boosted my confidence and made me feel so much more grounded and connected to myself.” – C
The CIC paid £7,190 to Missing Link Productions, of which Anna Strickland and Philip Strickland are directors. This was for providing workshop services. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
