  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets Depreciation has been provided at the following rates and methods in order to write down the cost, less estimated residual value, of all tangible fixed assets, with the exception of freehold land, over their expected useful lives: Plant and Machinery 25% on reducing balance

    Other accounting policies

    Taxation Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted. Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date. Deferred tax Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date. Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference. Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.

Company activities and impact

During the year the company continued to work The Asian Health Agency, developed and submitted an application for grant to the Big Lottery Fund to establish a Volunteers Hub in Southall aimed at supporting volunteers and community groups in Southall to use IT tools to engage their members. The company continued to support work of and collaborate with The Asian Women’s Network on activity to support Asian Women suffering Mental Health problems and issues and particularly on developing awareness of mental health amongst Asian communities. This work has continued to benefit local people through working to develop and improve volunteering within local communities and improving awareness of and access to mental wellbeing support services.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company worked with local community groups and particularly volunteers to support activity to help marginalised members of the community to use and learn digital technology and tools to connect with local services in and around Southall. The Company organised a number of meetings with local groups and volunteers and users including The Asian Health Agency and The Asian Women’s Network to promote activity to help marginalised women and volunteers’ groups to use digital technology and tools to access and connect with local services in and around Southall. The Company is continuing to work with The Asian Health Agency in working towards creating a Volunteers Hub and to provide training and support to volunteers. The Company continues to support The Asian Women’s Network to develop a project focusing on improving mental health amongst BME women in Southall
