In this financial year, Equal Measures CIC continued to advance its mission of promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within the UK’s hospitality and drinks industries through a combination of education, mentorship, advocacy, and community engagement. Through our Education Programme, we supported six individuals by fully funding their WSET certifications, enabling them to access industry-recognised qualifications essential for career progression. Alongside this, five individuals benefited from our Mentoring Programme, receiving one-to-one support from experienced industry professionals to help navigate their career journeys. We hosted two Community Events designed to support both personal and professional development. The first centred on mental health and resilience, equipping participants with tools to manage stress and wellbeing in high-pressure environments. The second was a year-end celebration bringing together beneficiaries, board members, donors, and brand partners to recognise community achievements and facilitate valuable networking for future opportunities in employment and entrepreneurship. In October, we served as the official EDI Partner at London Cocktail Week, where we led sessions on inclusive hiring, workplace safety, and best practices across the industry. Our involvement contributed to a growing movement toward more equitable, informed, and inclusive practices across hospitality. Additionally, Equal Measures was invited to join the advisory panel of Drinks United, an industry-wide initiative tackling systemic challenges in the drinks sector, particularly those affecting workplace safety, representation, and access to EDI resources for smaller businesses and individuals. Together, these initiatives have directly benefited marginalised individuals, especially those from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ communities, and neurodivergent groups, by providing meaningful access to training, mentorship, and professional support in a sector where they are historically underrepresented.
Equal Measures CIC’s primary stakeholders are our programme beneficiaries individuals from marginalised and underrepresented communities within the hospitality and drinks industries. To ensure their voices inform our work, we conduct regular and structured consultations at three key stages of the beneficiary journey. Start-of-Programme Survey , this establishes baseline data on participants' skills, goals, and expectations. It helps us tailor our support and measure growth accurately. End-of-Programme Evaluation, this collects feedback on the participant experience, training quality, mentorship, and perceived impact. It also provides valuable insights into how we can improve future delivery. Six-Month Impact Survey, conducted post-programme, this form assesses longer-term outcomes such as career progression, confidence, and continued community engagement. The insights gained through these feedback mechanisms directly inform programme refinement. For example, based on beneficiary feedback, we have expanded mental health support during community events and tailored vocational training content to meet real-world workplace challenges. Through these consultations, we ensure our services remain relevant, impactful, and responsive to stakeholder needs.
