The Story Of Our Project This Year And The Differences That We’re Making In the past year, and since the start of these Womens’ skills and support network programmes three years ago, we have made huge progress in the provision of services we can offer to the ladies. As of the 2023-2024 period, as an overview our new progress from this year includes: Collaboration with local agency KIDS, whereby we run a monthly support session for mothers of children with disability, The donation and setting up of a communal library for the women and their families, Running a Summer book club for children with our new library, Expansion of beginner ESOL classes to include a new class on Mondays, to reduce our waiting list, The introduction of new IT classes funded by Award for All, We secured free laptops from Birmingham Device Bank, Partnership with the jobcentre to provide English language training for the ladies prior to seeking a job, Well-being walks - promotion of exercise and talking about mental health, Support with form filling for the ladies e.g. bills, utilities, council tax, Food donations from local businesses and agencies, Support from Oxford University Press who provided us with some free materials and advice for English teaching. We have a great community of volunteers who are always willing to help Project Somali and improve the local community Overall this year we have been able to help 211 women at our centre who are currently registered. Over the full three years, we have had over 300 ladies registered and we are really proud of the impact we have been able to have locally.
