COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

LBS 4 PEACE CIC

Company Number: 12800393 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 August 2024

Company activities and impact

During the financial year, the company resumed in-person community engagement activities with a strong focus on supporting women from ethnic minority backgrounds, particularly those from Black African and Caribbean communities. A central initiative was the relaunch of the Steps & Checks programme at Leyton Jubilee Park, E10, made possible through funding from the local Council. This programme provided culturally sensitive, accessible wellbeing support, including guided walks, basic health education, and opportunities for social connection in a safe and supportive environment. By addressing barriers to health and social inclusion, the initiative empowered participants to take proactive steps towards improving their physical and mental wellbeing. The company’s work has had a meaningful impact on reducing isolation, building community cohesion, and promoting health equity for women who are often underrepresented in mainstream health and wellbeing services. Through ongoing outreach and engagement, the company continues to champion inclusivity and resilience in the local community.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s primary stakeholders include the women from ethnic minority backgrounds who participate in our programmes particularly those from Black African and Caribbean communities as well as local community groups, partner organisations, volunteers, funders (including the local Council), and healthcare professionals. Stakeholder consultation has been an ongoing and integral part of our approach. We have engaged participants through surveys, informal feedback sessions, and community forums to understand their needs, preferences, and challenges. Regular discussions with local partners and funders have also helped to align our activities with broader community priorities. In response to stakeholder feedback, we made several key adjustments during the year: Programme Timing and Location: Sessions were scheduled at times more convenient for women in all seasons of life, and held in accessible community spaces like Leyton Jubilee Park and Higham Hill Park, which has a child friendly cafe. Culturally Relevant Content: We adapted our health information and activities to reflect the specific cultural contexts and health concerns of our core demographic. Peer Support: Participants expressed a desire for more opportunities to connect socially, leading us to incorporate more group discussions through online platforms and peer-led sessions. These consultations have directly informed our planning and delivery, helping to ensure that our services remain responsive, inclusive, and impactful. To read more on the impact of the Steps & Checks programme, please see the report attached.
