Year Ending: 31 August 2024

Company activities and impact

As of September 2023 Sale Youth Choirs CIC was running weekly singing classes for school aged children between 5-13 years old in our two regular choirs, Infant Singers and Junior Singers. Our timetable follows the school term dates of Trafford, Manchester. These weekly classes aim to provide musical education and training in choral singing to any child in the local area, there are no auditions or prior experience necessary with opportunities throughout the year to perform at various local events. On the 14th December 2023 our choirs performed in their Christmas concert at St. Anne’s Church. The choirs also performed in their Summer Singing Celebration Concert on July 10th 2024, also held at St. Anne’s Church. We continued to deliver on our established local school partnership with Lime Tree Primary Academy, a 2 form entry school. Through this partnership our musical Director, Matthew Roughley, takes his expertise in using the voice to teach music at curriculum level to elevate the school’s musical offerings. This partnership means that Sale Youth Choirs CIC is directly impacting a further 420 pupils (approx) in the local area. On the 20th March 2024 we gave our own Spring concert to parents of our weekly choirs. Finally, in August 2024 we held our annual Summer Singing Week, a non residential music course held in partnership with Trafford Music Service where we had 44 children join us for a week of singing and music theory learning. This course culminated in a professional recording through Britten Pears Arts: Friday Afternoons, where we recorded 3 brand new pieces of music written by eminent british composers. Sale Youth Choirs CIC has impacted the local community in the following ways: - Musical Opportunities for local school aged children led by one of the UK’s most experienced choral educators - Provided training for aspiring choral leaders and accompanists - Provided training for primary school teachers in delivering curriculum music lessons - Supported local events and schools to help gain much needed funding - We rehearse in the local methodist church building which supports their running costs - We perform in the local church (St. Anne’s) which supports their running costs

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders are the children and parents of the local area seeking an outstanding musical and choral education. The directors of the company have lived in the area for a number of years and developed the organisation due to a lack of available musical options for this age group in the local area. When making decisions about new classes and timetables we consult with the parents of our members to ensure that what we are offering suits their needs and regular schedules. Once we have ascertained whether our classes suit the majority of our stakeholders we then implement those classes.
