Additional information
In the accured figures are costs for venue hire that has yet to be charged by Solent University equating £17,010. Through stakeholder feedback it has been noted that we require a dedicated Community Coach, we have therefore made provisions to cover their basic salary (£15,000) in these figures for the following year. This would cover their cost should we not be able to raise the funds. Also, we find ourselves in a position to buy new kits for our national league teams (13 teams), this is an estimated figure based on quotes received - £6,500.

During the financial year of June 2023 to May 2024 Team Solent Kestrels Basketball Club has benefitted the community by running over 370 weekly sessions for nearly 650 boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 16. Creating a safe place for the children to participate in sport, therefore improving health, make friends with peers and grow in confidence. We have also provided over 200 free session to primary schools within Southampton and the surrounding area, assisting with Physical Education curriculum and introducing boys and girls to the sport. Our team of qualified coaches have participate in several inner city projects, working in partnership with Southampton City Council and also the Saints Foundation (Southampton Football Club) to deliver monthly sports days, incorporating different sports, not just basketball to areas in under represented communities. Along side these sessions above we have also enrolled in the Basketball England initiative to create opportunities for girls and women to participation the sport. We have run weekly free sessions for girls aged 8-16 at Solent Sports Complex, culminating a Girls Only tournament for over 150 girls. Our National League program allows children from ages 8-18 to participate on a national platform, this financial year we have had 10 teams both and girls compete, totally 147 children. Our senior men's and women's programme continues to create a popular following, with weekly home games attracting crowds of over 400 people.
The club's stakeholders are made up of coaches, volunteers, players, parents, local community leaders and schools teachers. The directors of the club have also been involved in the basketball community for over 40 years in capacity of coaches, players and parents and have been also to build the club ethos and actions plans based on their experience and the feedback from the wider basketball community. Bi-annual surveys are emailed out to coaches, volunteers, parents and senior players, asking about their experiences, and any suggestion for improvement or new ideas for different sessions After any school or community session a valuation questionnaire is provided for the scheme leader to provide constructive feedback and also give them an opportunity to let us know if there is any that we can provide in the future. From using these methods of consultation we have been able to increase the number of coaches in the areas that we were under staffed, introduced the Girls Only sessions, when it was noted that the demand for them was high. We have also introduced a kit swap program where people can donate kit for those that are in need.
