The company’s activities have delivered meaningful and measurable benefits to the local community through a variety of social, cultural, educational, and wellbeing initiatives. These include: Community Drop-in Sessions: Regular drop-in sessions provided members of the Roma community with access to advice, information, and assistance on a range of issues, including housing, education, healthcare, and employment. These sessions helped reduce social exclusion and enabled individuals to better navigate local systems and services. These sessions offered a safe and inclusive environment where young people could develop social skills, build confidence, and form positive relationships with peers and mentors. Holocaust Commemoration Events: Roma Access organised and participated in events commemorating the Roma and Sinti victims of the Holocaust. These events promoted cultural remembrance and education, and encouraged dialogue on human rights, tolerance, and the fight against discrimination. Support for Women: A dedicated women’s group was set up to support Roma women through regular meetings and tailored activities. This group focused on empowerment, wellbeing, and skills development, providing a platform for mutual support and confidence-building. Sports Competitions for Young People: The CIC organised sports events and competitions to promote physical health, teamwork, and positive recreation among youth. These activities also helped bridge social divides and foster community spirit. Music Lessons: Music sessions were held to engage young people in creative expression while preserving and celebrating cultural heritage. These lessons provided a valuable outlet for emotional development and cultural identity. Through these activities, Roma Access Newcastle upon Tyne Association C.I.C. made a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and families, helping to promote inclusion, reduce inequalities, and foster stronger community cohesion.
During the financial year, Roma Access Newcastle upon Tyne Association C.I.C. maintained ongoing engagement with key stakeholders, including community members, partner organisations, volunteers, and local authorities. This consultation took place through: Feedback gathered during community drop-in sessions Informal discussions and listening exercises at events and group meetings Collaborative planning with partner organisations involved in service delivery One-to-one support sessions where community needs and concerns were voiced This regular dialogue helped the company to shape its activities to meet the actual needs of the community, ensuring that its programmes remained relevant, inclusive, and impactful.
