COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

OUTDOOR AND ACTIVE CIC

Company Number: 13584120 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 August 2024

Company activities and impact

Outdoor and Active CIC have planned, prepared and delivered Forest School and Beach School activities, working with local primary schools and community groups. The benefits of Forest School and Beach School activities are well recognised, providing: child centred, experiential outdoor leaning; active, non-competitive, collaborative play; healthy, outdoor exercise and opportunities to observe and engage with the natural environments of woodland and seashore. Outdoor and Active have also worked with the local community support organisation, Carers Plus to provide a programme of led walks for carers in the Eastfield area of Scarborough. The programme of walks around the local Eastfield area was designed to give carers the opportunity for some respite from their caring duties and to allow them to know the area better, meet others in similar situations, share experiences and to develop friendships and a mutually supportive network.

Consultation with stakeholders

All of our Forest School and Beach School activities are planned with teachers and learning support assistants in the schools involved. We work alongside the classroom teachers and learning support assistants to deliver each session and then discuss and evaluate what we have done and use these ideas to develop the direction and a plan for each subsequent session. The led walk programme was developed in partnership with Carers Plus at Eastfield, with the support of the North Yorkshire Coast team of The Outdoor Partnership.
