Cleaner Seas Project is focused on protecting our seas by taking a holistic approach to tackling the triple planetary crisis: pollution, biodiversity loss, and climate change. We do this by engaging and empowering our local and wider community through hands-on action, online education, in-person sessions at schools, community groups and businesses, as well as giving talks and presentations. Although there was no income during this accounting period, Cleaner Seas Project has been laying the foundations for bringing in funding and revenue to support future initiatives. Most of this work has been done voluntarily. During the period, we: - Cleaned and prepared the Sustainability Garden at Budehaven School, working with a local plant hire company. This is now part of our rain garden initiative. - Delivered talks and workshops at local primary schools, including assemblies and ghost rope bowl making. These schools are also taking part in our A to Z of Cleaner Seas initiative. - Represented Cleaner Seas Project at the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Microplastics. - Shared educational materials online to raise awareness about plastic pollution and ocean health. - Developed new initiatives including Rain Gardens, Heartworks, A-Z of Cleaner Seas, and Leadership Retreats. - Applied for funding to support the above initiatives. - Ran workshops and beach cleans at Spa Fest with Made for Life Organics and Made for Life Foundation. - Delivered a large beach clean for a visiting group at Crooklets Beach. - Supported the CIOS Marine Conservation Partnership and campaigns like Save Our Bays and Two Bays. - Participated in South West Water and other webinars focused on water quality. - Continued our Heartworks campaign, inviting marine litter art submissions. The winner received a prize from Made for Life Organics. - Spoke at the Wellness and Innovation Centre with our partners Made for Life Organics. - Supported the Bude Climate Partnership. - Created microplastic educational artwork and planted trees with Plant One. - Spoke at the Green Threads community event. - Hosted an advertising graduate for work placement and mentoring.
