During this financial year (2023-2024), the company was funded to deliver a summer programme to young people and care leavers in Lambeth from July-August 2023. The programme benefited the young people in the following ways: - Young people reported a marked improvement in their confidence, leadership, communication and team building skills - Young people left the programme with a personal development form which was used to aid their learning and inform their support network on how to better support their personal and professional development - Young people gained opportunities into the arts industry and future employment/work experience - Young people as a result of the programme had the tools to stay in school or go onto further education
The company’s stakeholders are Lambeth council and young people within Lambeth; we spoke to Lambeth Children’s Social Care, Head of Community and Safety and Lead Commissioner of Youth and Play to discuss how best to engage young people within the borough and our community. The stakeholders we spoke to discussed the importance of tackling Violence against Women & Girls to improve safety within the community and so we designed the Something About Love programme to equip young women with a toolkit of skills to help support them through stressful, traumatic and challenging situations; this saw them see marked improvements in areas such as their confidence, leadership, communication and team building.
The directors received a combined amount of £12,700 during this financial year. This went towards their hours of work on the project and reimbursements for the summer programme expenditure which came from the directors themselves as funding was received 2 months after the delivery of the programme.
