This financial year (2023-2024), our company has worked hard to support single parents through various community events and initiatives. Here are some key things we’ve done: - Summer Festival - We organized a fun festival with performances, stalls, and activities to bring single-parent families together. The event also helped us raise funds so members could climb Ben Nevis at little to no cost. - Ben Nevis Climb - Our members took part in a group hike up Ben Nevis, helping solo parents connect, support each other, and improve their mental well-being. - Christmas Gift Collection - We collected and distributed Christmas gifts to parents who couldn’t afford presents for their children, making sure they had something special during the holidays. - Affordable Days Out - We arranged several outings at discounted rates so members, many of whom have limited income, could enjoy quality time with their families. - Food Support - We provided food to some of our members who were struggling financially, ensuring they had access to essential supplies. - Spring Fair - We hosted a fair where members and businesses could set up stalls to earn money and support each other. - Legal Advice - We helped members access free or low-cost legal advice for various issues, making sure they had support when they needed it. These are just some of the things we’ve done this year! It has been an amazing time, and we’re excited to do even more next year!
Our company’s stakeholders are the members of our SPU UK Solo Parents United CIC Facebook group. We regularly hold polls and discussions to understand what they want from the company. On Saturday, 19th August 2023, at 1:00 PM, we held our first Annual General Meeting (AGM). During the meeting, members reviewed, discussed, and approved our future plans, shaping the direction of the CIC moving forward.
