Company activities and impact

What We Do: Empowering black and ethnic minority women Our team works with young black women and girls to help them foster a spirit of accountability and a strong commitment to achieving their personal goals through encouraging excellence in the development and execution of personal plans. We aim to drive change and empower growth for young black women and girls who often face multiple barriers to success. Through our mentorship programme, we improve their confidence, knowledge, skills and employability prospects. We create spaces for them to aspire, dream and live out their full potential, foster accountability for their actions and decisions, and become active contributors to their communities. We are currently running our holistic growth and development mentorship in specific towns in the United Kingdom and through intentional planning and providing them with top-notch strategic advice by setting personal and collective objectives and goals, we are helping them work towards a better future and quality of life. Mentoring and Coaching All too often, we find ourselves forced to confront life’s challenges on our own. At OJA, we form a close-knit support system that is made up of like-minded individuals that can offer; a listening ear, source of encouragement, a voice of reason and caution, a shoulder to lean on and of course, sisters to celebrate and rejoice with. Corporate Consultation and Partnerships We empower workplaces and leaders to promote a more inclusive and equitable workplace. Our equality, diversity and inclusion services involve working with organisations and leaders to develop strategies, policies and practices that promote a more inclusive and equitable workplace Social Impact Projects OJA’s social impact projects are initiatives aimed at making a positive difference in communities and addressing pressing social issues. These projects focus on creating sustainable change, fostering inclusivity and improving the overall well-being of individuals and groups in need.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our organisation engages and consult with local community groups, social workers and youth organisations that work with marginalised communities in the areas to better understand and to to ensure that our project stays responsive to the needs and priorities of the people we serve. For further insight, our team hold focus groups alongside informal conversations with families and local community members. Through these engagement efforts, we identify a need for more accessible tailored support for vulnerable individuals from these marginalised communities. Feedback from focus groups and informal conversations from families within the communities demonstrate that there is an urgent need for targeted support to address the barriers they face in accessing education, employment, mentorship and training opportunities. Our initiatives bridge the gap by providing tailored support and mentorship for this specific group, thereby improving their life chances and quality of life whilst contributing to the wider social and economic development of these communities.
