Inspiring Women Network CIC continued to grow its impact during the financial year ending 31st August 2024 by delivering a wide range of activities that foster empowerment, community connection, cultural inclusion, wellbeing, and leadership development for women particularly those from minoritised and marginalised backgrounds across Cornwall. Flagship Events Large-scale events allow us to bring women together to connect, learn, celebrate, and be inspired. They serve as important platforms for visibility, leadership, and shared experience challenging the invisibility of minoritised women in public and professional spaces. -Women in Business & Leadership Conference: -International Women’s Day Gala Wellbeing and Personal Growth For many of the women we work with, access to wellbeing services and safe spaces for personal reflection are limited due to financial hardship, isolation, or cultural and language barriers. IWN’s wellbeing programmes provide much-needed spaces for rest, healing, connection, and confidence-building prioritising accessibility and cultural safety. These sessions, attended by hundreds of women, support women in developing healthy routines, coping strategies, and a stronger sense of self. Creative Craft Workshops Creative expression is a powerful tool for healing, self-discovery, and social connection. For women who may feel voiceless or isolated, engaging in arts-based activity can foster confidence, skill-building, and a sense of pride. Our creative workshops are designed to be low-pressure, accessible, and joyful supporting both wellbeing and community building. Cultural and Community Events Celebrating cultural traditions and heritage strengthens identity, belonging, and cross-community understanding. For racially minoritised women, being able to celebrate their culture without judgment or having to explain themselves can be a deeply affirming experience. These events promote cultural pride, build community cohesion, and tackle isolation in joyful, celebratory ways. Social Justice and Advocacy Many of the women we serve experience structural inequalities that cannot be addressed through support services alone. Our social justice work amplifies underrepresented voices, facilitates critical conversations, and works toward systems change. Through all these events, IWN has provided vital services to women across Cornwall especially racially minoritised women and those facing systemic disadvantagecreating safe, empowering spaces to connect, grow, and thrive.
At Inspiring Women Network CIC, meaningful consultation is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that those most affected by inequality must be at the centre of designing the solutions. That’s why we consult regularly, listen deeply, and co-create our programmes with our community particularly racially minoritised and marginalised women in Cornwall. How We Consulted - Ongoing verbal feedback gathered at events and workshops - End-of-session evaluations for most activities written or verbal, depending on accessibility - Monthly community conversations through drop-ins and informal chats - Two large-scale consultation events Meet IWN Sessions. Key Themes We Heard - Women wanted more regular wellbeing activities that felt safe and culturally sensitive - Many asked for more inclusive physical activity, which led to the launch of our new Dance Fit-ness Classes. - The craft sessions continue to serve as a healing space. - Improving mental health and resilience was a priority , prompting us to our monthly “Ways to Wellbeing” series - Racialised and minoritised women voiced a desire for more events by and for them, including safe spaces to discuss and celebrate identity and heritage. How We Used This Information - Our programming decisions and new offerings - How we communicate making sure language is warm, inclusive, and trauma-informed - How we design spaces to be more accessible, flexible and community-led - Which facilitators we invite prioritising women with lived experience
