Budo for Change CIC is a community led not for profit organisation using martial arts to fight child hunger improve wellbeing and empower families Over the past year we have expanded our reach and impact across Stockton and surrounding areas delivering free and inclusive provision for disadvantaged children and families Core Activities and Expansion HAF Provision Stockton Borough Council We delivered Holiday Activities and Food programmes during every school holiday providing a safe structured and nourishing environment for over 50 children per day Estimated reach over 600 individual child places across summer Christmas Easter and half term holidays Activities included martial arts confidence workshops nutrition education hot meals and themed enrichment sessions Community Martial Arts and Lifestyle Education Workshops Weekly sessions focused on building resilience discipline and self esteem through wrestling based martial arts Delivered in partnership with local schools and VCSE organisations targeting those with barriers to access Free Training Scholarships In 2023 2024 we offered at least 10 fully funded year long scholarships giving young people from low income families access to regular training kit travel support and competition entries Womens Martial Arts and Self Defence Workshops Regular sessions supporting female empowerment safety and community building in a trauma informed and culturally sensitive environment These included standalone workshops and ongoing community classes Community Events We organised and participated in local events including open days showcase tournaments and health themed pop ups promoting physical activity nutrition and mental wellbeing
